  1. During his lifetime....yes. The 76-77 team ended with a record of 14-13 that was adjusted to 16-11 because Minnesota had to forfeit all their games, including two wins against us. This included a 17 point beatdown by Purdue in AH. Yes, we were coming off what should have been 2 consecutive undefeated seasons, and RMK certainly had earned a down year, but that still doesn't explain away the fact that when a team loses a huge amount of talent, like both that team and this year's team, there is going to be a drop off. Has CMW deserved to see it through this year? I think so. We'll end up better than 14-13, for sure. Did RMK's system suddenly not work, or had he not built a good roster? What do you think? And before you bring up the talent on this team, that 76-77 team still had an All-American in Benson. Woodson averaged 18.5 ppg as a freshman. Glen Grunwald, who RMK stated several times was the best player he ever recruited before he got hurt, was a freshman. Wayne Radford (RIP) was a solid player who was drafted and played for the Pacers. The team was not bereft of talent. When a team was as dependent on one or two players as last year's was, and those guys leave, there absolutely is going to be an adjustment. Indictment or no, off seasons happen. And I happen to believe that this year does not mean that the state of IU basketball is falling off a cliff.
  2. Understand....but you often see in games that teams keep running the ball, even if not well, to slow down the rush. The Chiefs' pass rushers were just pinning their ears back. The Ravens' O-line didn't stand a chance.
  3. Agree with the horrendous decision to throw into triple coverage. Said to my son during the game that if the MVP votes haven't been cast yet, Lamar could have very well played himself out of contention.
  4. And, I'll add, the Ravens O-line could not hold up to the blitzes or even the 4 man rush from KC. Lamar was under constant pressure. Running the ball more frequently could very well have slowed down the pass rush, and made the Chief's front 7 honor the run game
  5. There are currently 5 coaches older than 70, with the oldest being 76. At least 3 of them, Pitino, Leonard Hamilton, and Larranaga, are with P6 programs. If he wants to coach that long, no reason CMW can't coach another 7-8 years.
  6. Let’s see how much impact Campbell has had on this team. Tough or not
  7. I have a turkey with 9 legs, if that makes you feel better
  8. Where’s @jefftheref? He lives in Michigan. Can’t believe he’s not watching, even though he claims to be a Packer fan
  9. So, my wife mentioned Joe Montana, who played for the 69ers. I think I may be in for a good night!
  10. In the northern part of the state, @rico ‘s Whitlock Wildcats are tearing it up
  11. Agree on the SB. Other than Dan Campbell willing his team to win, I am afraid that the SB will be too big for the Lions.
  12. Niners with my brain. Lions with my heart.
  13. If the MVP vote includes this game, Lamar has definitely played himself out of the running
  14. Malik is 60% through his sophomore season. It took TJD what, almost 4 years to become an accomplished post passer. For sure, MR is a work in progress. Last year he wasn’t called on to be the focus of the offense because we had two future NBA guys filling that role. Also can’t stress enough how Ware’s absence as well as X’s have impacted MR. Ware certainly draws defenders to take away the double and triple teams that MR has faced recently. We saw yesterday the impact a healthy X has. If we are fortunate enough to have MR for two more seasons I feel that he will continue to improve in the facets of the game that some have been critical of him.
  15. Piling on includes stating the obvious ad nauseum- how many times can it be expressed that we don’t shoot the 3 well, that the roster construction needs improvement? That the focus of the offense doesn’t fit today’s game? Getting behind the team would mean that posters would acknowledge the effort that these guys have shown. The improvement that guys like MR and TG have made. I shake my head when I read posts that suggest that there has been no player development. Finally, the pot shots at the coaching staff are unwarranted, imo. You starts the “It’s time to fire” thread, so not sure how to respond to you. The guy has been here 3 seasons . He is still coaching players from the previous regime. Improvement needs to happen, for sure. Three years and out is a recipe for disaster for the program.
  16. The narrative of the board was that we would not compete today. There were multiple posters that thought we would get beat by more than the spread that the betting books had. Yeah, we lost. Yeah, making the tournament looks like a long shot. I thought that this team showed a lot of fight today.. Not perfect by a long shot, but definitely they could hold their heads high for the effort they gave. Especially since our best player was not on the floor. It is so easy to pile on and beat down these guys and the coaches. It’s so easy to join the crowd. Would love if this forum might try to get behind these guys.
  17. We were ranked #1 more recently than them. And if you read my post, I also referenced the last 3 games… which we won. And since when are you the guy that tells folks what they can or can’t post?
  18. Well, we had beat them 3 straight before today and took them down to the wire without our best player. Let’s see. How many Nattys do they have?
  19. Yes, but other than MM I thought we played pretty well defensively to cause some of those misses. This was a very high scoring team that we held way below their average
  20. Free throws killed them, but both teams missed a lot. The call that should have been a charge was horrible and it really ended any chance IU had. I think they win that game with Ware. pretty much what I said

  22. You mean more guys on drugs and not going to class? Sampson shouldn’t have been fired over the calls. He should have been fired for trashing the culture of the program
  23. Don’t know how anyone can compare a coach/program that has 29 years of building v a guy in his 3rd year who still is coaching some of his predecessor’s players. I get it that CMW has to change some things but to think 3 years is a fair amount of time to evaluate him doesn’t make sense imo. I agree wholeheartedly that next year needs to see real progress. I also agree wholeheartedly that prematurely firing him after this season will set us back.
  24. Well, Harbaugh was negotiating with the university to protect himself in the event that the NCAA investigation turned ugly so I would take that as he knew he was more guilty than was let on
