  1. That's what I remember... Now Chip's kid, Chris, does A's games...Harry did the A's for 1 year in the early 70s before going to the White Sox, and eventually the Cubs... He was paired with Jimmy Piersall with the Sox...Boy, was that ever some top notch entertainment... And 4 generations of Carays is pretty good stuff...
  2. Some interesting numbers... Of the top 10 3 point percentage shooters in D1, 4 played in a P6 conference this year... Antonio Reeves shot 45% at Kentucky this year...as a freshman at Illinois State he shot 31%... sophomore? 30% Mark Sears shot 44% for Alabama last year...as a freshman at Ohio U he shot 28% Boo Buie shot 43% for Northwestern...as a freshman he shot 28% Jamison Battle shot 43% at Ohio State last year... previously, he was a 35% shooter for his career... So to me, thinking Rice, Mgbako, and possibly Carlyle go 35% or higher doesn't seem like much of a stretch...
  3. I can't seem to find ol Freddie in any database... Anybody else? ๐Ÿ˜‰
  4. Saying we want 3 point shooters without naming names can't be debated very well...
  5. A few new faces in the Big 10... 6'10 sophomore forward Carey Booth from Notre Dame to Illinois (6 ppg) 6'5 senior guard Selton Miguel from USF to Maryland 14.7 ppg 6'5 junior guard Jordan Derkack from Merrimac to Rutgers 17 ppg And in an in conference move, 6'8 sophomore forward Gavin Griffiths (RSCI #34 out of high school ) from Rutgers to Nebraska 6 ppg
  6. Best thing I ever saw live at a baseball game...8th row, just to the left of the home plate side of the Cardinals dugout...
  7. One other thing to note, Carlyle shot 42% from 3 in his first 12 games (he missed the first 8 games of the season due to academic reasons) and only 21% in his last 11 games...maybe another "freshman wall" thing, and there are questions surrounding his shot selection, but he sounds and looks like (limited highlights) a really good player with an enormous upside...he's already on some NBA draft boards...
  8. Don't know whether he has the sanding drum on the floor in the pic (you can raise the drum off the floor), but having resurfaced a ton of bowling lanes back in the day, you're correct...with the grain...and NEVER stop with the drum on the floor...
  9. NBA Draft room assessment of Carlyle... NBA Draft Room Kanaan Carlyle POSITION: PG FROM: Stanford (Milton, GA) HT: 6-2 WT: 175 Draft Notes "Carlyle is an ultra-quick and explosive lead guard who flashes big time upside. He has an elite first step and blow-by ability and overall top end athleticism. Heโ€™ll need to keep getting stronger but heโ€™s well on his way to having an NBA frame. Carlyle is a blur up and down the court and has an extra gear. He loves to push the pace and attack the rim or set up teammates in the open court. Has a nice pull-up game and can score 1on1, taking it all the way to the rim or getting into his mid range game. Heโ€™s a capable 3pt shooter but has a ways to go in terms of becoming a knock down threat from NBA range. But heโ€™s young and weโ€™ll see big improvements in his jumper over the coming years. On the defensive end Carlyle really gets after it pressuring the ball and using his elite quickness to disrupt in the passing lanes. Has all the tools to be a great defender at the next levels of play." I'll take that ๐Ÿ™‚
  10. Los Serpentines look more like Los Bananas to me...
  11. The last of "The Boys of Summer." I've said it before, but if the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn, that'd be my team...
  12. I thought for sure Darryl Evans would be double digits...
  13. If you hooked up with Alanis, you'd be in that AMC Stubs A-list Unlimited Club before you can say Dave Coulier ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. To people who know the history of baseball, sure... But to everybody else, they're just as shiny as the other 25... And there are some parallels...free agency was relatively new to baseball during that time, and the Yankees scouting/farm system wasn't what it had been... Steinbrenner used the system to build a team quickly...just like we (hopefully) have...
