  1. It's interesting to look at Painter's most successful runs, from 2007-2011 and 2015-2018. Those happen to be some really down years for IU. It's almost as if his success is predicated on IU sucking. If we ever get back to a perennial power Painters best years will be behind him.
  2. I just think any arguments about scheduling are lame. All that is taken into consideration now with advanced metrics. And our hard Big 10 schedule looks a little less daunting than at the beginning of the season. Of the currently 6 ranked Big 10 teams, we only play 3 of them twice (Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan). We'll see how the schedule shakes out at the end of the year, since this is all subject to change. I don't see the purpose of lamenting over the teams we have to play or what teams some other big 10 team doesn't have to play.
  3. Yeah, I don't see a reason to complain here. Typical years we play 1 true road game and 1-2 neutral site games with 8-9 home games before conference play starts. We had Maui and less cupcakes this year. Optics for records probably are affected a little but usually that is dictated more by conference performance anyway.
  4. Michigan St 15 turnovers Rutgers 0-7 from FT line Gross
  5. I got sucked in and really didn't want to. I second this.
  6. Let me be clear - I don't believe CAMs seat is warm right now, nor should be. But I do believe we should expect better than .500 finishes in the Big 10 and bubble talk every year. Based off the CURRENT trajectory of 2020-2021 IU basketball, I expect around .500 in Big 10 play. This would put us around 15-12 for the year. I would imagine that's bubble territory. Seat gets warm for next season especially with the 2021 recruiting class. Just one man's opinion (which apparently Scott Dolson may be listening to).
  7. So you think my opinion (random fan forum guy) has an influence over the fate of the IU basketball program? Far out man.
  8. If we are under .500 in conference again which is quite possible and we are bubble/miss tourney it's warm.
  9. I agree, I don't think we should interpret it as 1) Lander ranked higher is some random analytic ranking system therefore 2) Lander > Rob, and further 3) Lander should start instead of Rob. However, I do think they have the rest of our roster essentially correct in terms of relative importance to our team and performance so far this year.
  10. On Rob - these player ratings assuredly have their flaws, but most of us have been seeing it with our own eyes. His performance has been...underwhelming so far this year.
  11. Interesting. More interesting are the player ratings. TJD #3. Next closest is Race at #156 then Lander at #193. Rob is #742 and second to last on the team in front of Leal.
  12. You are assuming A) we won't have our own transfers, B) seniors don't move on with their life to another career, C) we actually land an impact transfer. Even if all that breaks our way we end up with imbalanced classes, something that plagued Crean.
  13. So...we have one recruit signed. We aren't actively recruiting anyone, except Aminu. It appears we aren't leading for him at the moment. This will be hard to recover from unless something significant changes.
  14. I think Sampson felt pressure to "win now" so he reached a little with the guys he brought in early. I think if given the chance he would have started bringing in higher character guys. All I know is if it had worked out, IU would have a ton more wins over the last decade than they did.
  15. So we are down to 1 realistic target for this class.
  16. I'm not lumping anyone in any category. I'm simply stating my opinion. I think Armaan is a solid role player/fringe starter on a top 25 level team. I don't expect him to develop into All Big 10 type guy.
  17. I've heard that about Galloway too, we'll see. I like Armaan but I'm not sure he's a difference maker to get us from middle of the road Big 10 to top 4-5.
  18. And to be clear, if we get Miller and Aminu I'd be ecstatic. I'm just not feeling great about either one.
  19. I don't want to keep belaboring the same points. We have to win more games this year. To do that we need a lot of things to go right. We have to get more out of Hunter and Race. TJD has to stay healthy. Either Phinisee needs to stay healthy or Lander has to be the answer. We kind of know what Brunk, Al, and Armaan will bring which is middle to lower tier power 5 play. Geronimo, Leal, and Galloway are probably not ready to contribute much. So we need nearly everything to go our way this year. However, if we had a talented and well rounded recruiting class on deck for 2021 it would take some of the pressure off. This is my biggest concern about this class.
  20. Those are exceptions Scott, you know this.
