  1. Also - this is a free agency off-season. Any new coach could accelerate the rebuild by August. Archie could make the argument that he could revamp the roster too, but it may be too far gone. which, if Dolson is leaning towards a change, this off-season makes it much more advantageous for that reason alone.
  2. In a normal year, would he be a weekday starter or weekday reliever?
  3. Has Reese Sharp played? I don’t think he played last year either. Dude got drafted - I’m surprised he hasn’t even found an inning (unless I’m missing something from this weekend).
  4. Yes. And he’s been considering some jobs lately (Wichita St). Plus, zoom/pandemic will help his health/back situation (which allegedly is better). Im personally not buying the “he won’t coach IU bc it’s replacing his mentor” angle. Just me though.
  5. Ha. I was posting something similar. Assuming IU gets back to winning - without trouble ... would people be ok hiring Pitino and giving him a second chance knowing he was previously a scumbag?
  6. Do you think his comments would turn some kids away?
  7. I think Pitino would take the job ... just don’t think IU would offer it.
  8. Small sample size, but Big 12 has been tough last few years too - like B1G. Which makes Drew an attractive candidate too.
  9. Yes ... which begs the question - if Dolson can’t get that guy now, does he make the change or wait a year?
  10. I’m comparing B1G to ACC ... not including the Big East. While it’s good b-ball, it’s never consistently as deep as the ACC and B1G have been the past 10 years or so. Maybe a one off year.
  11. Agree. I just wonder if African American kids would play for him or hold that against him? I have no idea how damaging that is.
  12. That’s the risk with Beilien - he’s not a long term solution. And the comments with Cleveland. Mattas risk is his health. Mack was good at Xavier. Archie was good at Dayton. Before I hired him at IU, I personally would want to see more time at Louisville. Still seems like a gamble to me when there are other, better bets out there. Obviously no guarantees, but some better bets IMO.
  13. Yes. I’d consider him too. Don’t know if IU would go there though. Throw in GGG too.
  14. Much better candidates. IU could’ve had him 4 years ago and I thought Archie had a better resume then and was much younger. It’s another risky hire. I’m sure he’s a fine coach, but this time around, IU NEEDS a proven coach. It’s not as much about disliking him as it is about liking other guys more that would suit IUs situation better today ... Drew and Beard if they’d be interested, matta or Beilein. If you strike out there, assuming Stevens said no 20 times, then maybe you consider him ... but he still personally still doesn’t excite me. Obviously Fife isn’t proven either, but I’d give him a long look if it were between he and Mack. I’d even exhaust Keith Smart and those type of guys first. At this point in time, I think IU can do better.
  15. If he wants to give his back/health a trial run, honestly, why not go this route? I know you may have posted this jokingly, but if he wants to get back into coaching ... call Archie and tell him he’s happy to come on staff. Low risk / High Reward
  16. If Mack is the best hire IU can make right now I’m going to Purdue to get an MBA or something. Beilien or Matta would be nine million thousand times better than Mack. I’d even be more excited about Fife than Mack.
  17. That’s why part of me thinks Dolson is considering a change now bc of the free agency off-season. Can literally rebuild a roster between March and August. This off-season would accelerate any rebuild compared to other years.
  18. Would IU risk another Sampson? It’s very possible Drew doesn’t get into any other trouble again (or get caught), but after being burned by Sampson, would they take someone like this?
  19. So does the question become - if they pay him $287k/month plus around the same for a new coach .... how long do they have the Archie expense and could other sports use that money instead?
  20. If it is/will be this easy - then maybe he has a lot higher chance of being fired than I imagined.
  21. I’m assuming Dolson would have to make sure the other 23 or so sports have everything they need financially to do this then.
  22. Yeah. I think next year is Judgment Day and no decision is made on his contract until next March (hopefully April after IU makes Final 4 😉)
  23. I think it’s also money AT ALL being spent on b-ball when two (or more) other sports are hanging on by a thread. I understand the argument that you should feed the two sports that generate all the revenue. I just don’t think the University will go for it and would prefer any additional money be spent on saving the programs that need it so it’s equal opportunity and more opportunities for more kids - not just funneled at hoops. Not saying I agree with the logic, but I think that’s the predicament Dolson is in with IU during/post-COVID
  24. Do you think the BoT and Indiana University thinks that/cares? While the AD can make the case all day long, I’m just not sure the University would rush into this knowing it’ll be different next year.
