As mentioned in an earlier post from someone, those schools have a HS recruiting class for ‘24-25’. We don’t. We’ve got 7(?) scollys open. Have to go buy them in the portal.

Doesn't sound like IU is getting good feedback at all from the portal guys.  Not surprised no one wants to play for Woody's God awful system and especially when he's likely to only be here one year.  Dolson better call the Simons and the Cooks and tell them we're going to need a bigger boat.  Looks like we'll have to vastly over pay to get anyone decent.

Do you truly think that would be the 'reason' IU would have no interest in Calipari?

Or, are you willing to consider the fact that there could be multiple factors why he would not be hired, that are both beyond what you perceive his 'bigness' may be, and that those reasons have legitimacy behind them.

Certainly others.  But even if he was the cleanest coach ever IU would never hire him.

Dusty May could very well be a better coach than Mike Woodson.  But, he should NOT be in the top 3 on the IU candidate list.

Yes, his team made one magical run to the Final Four.  News flash.  They would not even be in this year's tournament if they had not done that.

Heck, you want to base it on one tournament run, then let's go hire Kevin Ollie.  He won the whole damn thing and look at where he is now.

That's ridiculous.  May built FAU from the ground up.  Ollie is much more comparable to Mike Davis, Tubby, etc who inherited a HOF coaches roster and then crapped the bed when all of those players left.

Well the AD isn’t committed to Woodson. That’s just reality. Also Dolson didn’t inform the media of anything

Then he needs to move now unless he's a complete idiot.  It's going to get a whole lot worse for Scott if his targets are all gone next year, the 2025 class is a bust which it will be, and Woody leaves an empty roster for the next coach which he will.

The AD is just the puppet for the BOT and the BOT are guided by those who have influence over the funding.

We all know it wasn't the AD at the time that hired Sampson, but the AD took the fall for Sampson's transgressions.

The way I read what is going on, even if Dolson is ready, those who have influence over the funding are not ready to let him, or the BOT, fire Woodson yet.

He can pull the trigger whenever he wants.  BOT can't stop him.  But Scott is a yes man as we discussed when he was hired.  Pat Kraft was the man as I said at the time but the administration would never allow that.  They don't want an AD.  They want a

IU went that route. His name was Kelvin. It didn't work out so well if I remember correctly. And I don't blame Sampson - I never much liked him, but he was tossed aside for the stupidest of reasons.

The rules have changed quite considerably.  Almost nothing Pearl has ever been accused of is illegal now.

And who is the elite P5 coach they think they'll be able to land next season?  I just can't think of any.  Oats isn't happening. Nor is Beard.  Drew will either be at UL or sign a massive extension with Baylor.  It's now or never IU.  Throw Pearl the contract you offered Stevens last time.

Most of my IU friends wanted him fired in January and have only gotten nastier about it.

"I was hoping that he would announce after the game he was retiring but no such luck"

"Hey Woody.  I sat through that garbage. Am I a “True Fan” yet?  Or do I just need to chill?"

"Can’t wait to watch next years roster full of one year rentals. Still holding out hope Woodson has a “medical” issue and retires"

All from huge die hard IU fans.

Always a great sign for the future of the program when the fans start rooting for the coach to have a health scare.

I just reread this w/ your last sentence - not sure what part of Coach Knight CMW thinks he is, but he is no RMK. I don't know what CMW thinks he is doing honestly, because he hasn't carried forward anything from Knight's time as coach to the present.  Currently making dinner so I don't have time to detail out, hahahaha, but suffice to say, CMW is no RMK.  (speaking of teaching the game, actively involved, etc.)

An ego maniac of the highest order.  That is Mike Woodson.  He's could bring down the University if Scott doesn't act soon.  He's that bad.

Wow.. I wonder how much of this is verified, etc.  Much of it I've heard but not #4.  That was new to me.

No that's been pretty much confirmed.  That Chris guy on BtB, I don't post as they blocked me but read their stuff, pretty much said if Woody had his way the women's team would play its games in the Assembly Hall parking lot.  Heard this from others.  Woody truly believes he is Bob Knight at the end of 1987.

There are still things Woodson has done, let's say.. things Woodson has worn... that have been extremely off-putting at alumni events. And I will leave it at that.

I don't think he was hired because he's black, though, I think he was hired because we are dumb.

I agree with that. He wasn't hired because he's black.  He was hired because he's friends with Buckner.  But yes Mike has been spotted with that Marxist black power fist logo on his shirt at many events.  Rubs many the wrong way especially in regards to the double standard he supposedly put on Fife.

Everyone is already aware of Mike Davis and Cora Breckenridge and why he was kept on past 2001.  Or why Herbert made it hard to move on at the end.  Or why Herbert denied Greenspan from hiring Beilein who was a top 5 coach and was literally a match made in heaven for IU and Beilein.  Instead we had a shady coach with sanctions hanging over his head forced on us because our minority President insisted on a minority hire.

And we now know for a fact that Buckner made the Woodson hire happen when no other program would've given him a look.  Likely had nothing to do with race but people connect those dots.  Buckner supposedly also absolutely hates Steve Alford who was the only IU guy remotely qualified. Why does he hate Alford but love Woody?  It is what it is.  The administration got us into this dumpster fire and they'll have to find a way out.

....this IS the overlying issue! He so wants to be the guy that bridged the gap between the old and the new as well as being a former Coach Knight stud bring relevance back to IU again. I know deep down inside this is what his dream is to do, but it is not going to happen, that ship has sailed......

It's been said over and over again, but this is truly a "dead man walking" situation if this ship isn't righted.

Never do business with friends or family.  Shame on Quinn Bucker for putting everyone in this position.

Let's be clear. Wheaver his failings at Indiana, Mike Woodson is an accomplished man. He has spent a lifetime playing and coaching the game of basketball, with the relationships and reputation that develop from such a career. That, and his alumni status, are why he was hired at Indiana, not BLM or DEI. The fans using those terms as perjoratives are doing so only because of the color of his skin, and I find that far uglier than any number of basketball games Woodson could ever lose.

But he has no self-awareness.  He just has to know he isn't the right guy for the job.  He has to.  He's also past retirement age.  So go into Dolson's office and negotiate a retirement package.  Bow out gracefully.

Part of the reason the fans go nuts is we've seen time and time again that the administration simply can't or isn't willing to fix things themselves.  Or they simply wait many years too long. Fans therefore feel they have to take matters into their own hands.  Create such a toxic environment that he can't possibly succeed and force a firing.

If the administration would simply go out and hire a big name coach this would all go away.

not even going to call him dumb....he is far past that point.

You have to think Dolson is making calls and trying to find a way out of this mess.  Mike simply doesn't have a clue.  Never should've been hired.  Next season will be worse and everyone knows it.  Sadly Buckner and the Simon's want him back.

The fans are completely done and there's no getting them back. They're already throwing out words like DEI hire and BLM all over Twitter.  An even worse word is likely coming if Dolson doesn't move soon.  A mass exodus is also coming and he can't recruit no matter how much NIL money we throw out.  You're looking at an atmosphere this summer and next season that will make the RMK and Sampson firings seem like a day at Disneyland.  Not sure what the solution is if Dolson really is shackled.

Bart K singlehandedly changed our baseball program. I just can't put my finger on the problem...and again this is decades of problems.

Right now Dolson definitely knows a change is required.  However, the Simon family due to Buckner is insisting on a 4th year. Buckner needs to be removed immediately. He doesn't give a sh!t about the program just his buddy.

See that's what makes no sense with these coaching contracts. How is that performance not grounds for termination? If a coach completely fails to perform his duties, why isn't that a cause to fire them without the buyout. Once they sign the contract, they can just sit back and do the minimum and receive the full amount of their buyout? There has to be language about not performing duties.

He doesn't believe in recruiting HS kids.  Only elite 5 stars.  That's why he didn't show up to Sectionals and was forced by Dolson to attend that other game purely for optics.  He believes the Simon family will buy him an elite roster through the portal each season.
