You’re not wrong that it is a likely scenario.  And they could win it all.  I don’t think Houston or UConn are as good.

Having said that, while IU fans may be terrified, Duke has survived when UNC wins it all and vice-versa.   OSU football has gone into urgency mode with UM winning it all and on a roll with recruiting.

If Purdue wins it all, the golf clap can mentality will end. Pam Whitten, QB, the Simons and company will be startled by the urgency, if not rage, from the fan base.  It will rise to defcon 5 if Purdue wins it all.  It might be good for IU to wake up the admin at IU and all their politics and dysfunction.

You know, I’ve been dreading the possibility of Purdue even making the final four this year. But Purdue’s success can only help the sense of urgency you described from the IU side of things. Thanks for this perspective.

I mean are we for real right now??? This guy is out of control. If you’ve done your job you wouldn’t have to be campaigning right now about “doing your job” well…doing your job is 92 in kenpom? The worst ranking in 10+ years and 0 recruits for 2024…Mike I think you need to reevaluate what doing your job is.

Don’t worry, they’re up to 86 in Kenpom! What a joke.

The bolded isn't because of the fans. The bolded is because IU's athletic department and hierarchical structure is extremely poorly run.

Maybe the fans should just go away and then we can see what that does? Literally turn this into Minnesota basketball.

Let's have a half-empty Assembly Hall all year.

The fans weren't a problem when they packed Assembly Hall in 2008-09 to watch a team of baseball players and walk-ons. Think that happens at Clemson?

Think a freshmen averaging 2ppg is going to lead in NIL apparel sales at Ole Miss?

IU has some crazy, bad fans. No doubt, and no argument from me on that.

But, so does Duke, UNC, Kansas, UK, Michigan, Louisville, Alabama, etc., etc.

This is not even remotely unique to IU. The difference is that IU's athletic department has been a joke.

Fix the admin, hire a real, accomplished college basketball coach, and the fans aren't a problem. I'd also argue that IU's fans are the biggest reason the fix can actually be really easy and simple.

I totally agree. I absolutely hate the argument that the fans are the problem or that fans are asking for too much out of the program.

How about I stop traveling to NYC to watch us lose by 20 to UConn, stop driving to Kansas to watch us lose by 20, stop traveling to Bloomington and going to games with my old buddies?

I’m done watching games until the IU administration gets their head out of their asses and takes this program seriously. I’m not buying tickets, I’m not buying gear, I’m still never going to donate any money to the school (my out of state tuition was plenty).

Frankly I’m fed up in a way I’ve never been before. I’m just done spending this much time and energy on something that has become a total joke. IU basketball has been something I tried to schedule my life around, but I haven’t watched the last month or so and I’m better off for it.

Don't get me wrong, this win is great! It's just both confusing and complicated at the same time. I think most IU, if not all IU fans would love and welcome this type of play on a consistent basis. Though it wasn't crisp and pretty, nor one sided dominant, it was a win that showed both purpose and determination. I will take that any day, a win.

This type of play would have been welcomed and expected back in January,....... Here we are, March is just a few days away and we still have no certainty about this team as a whole or Coach Woodson. I will enjoy this win like I do all the others. Congratulations to the coaching staff and team for this much needed win. I just wish I felt differently about the win. JMO

    Go IU.

Man this comment really hits home. I will never, ever, ever root for IU to lose, but I already really want IU to move on from Woodson at the end of the year and hope that these wins don’t prevent that from happening. Weird place to be in as a fan right now.

Not sure. I don't think we've heard anything definitive on either Leal or Galloway.

I'd love to have them both back, though there would definitely need to be other backcourt/wing changes around them.

I believe Sam Story said in his newsletter that Galloway would be back for a 5th year. That was the only “definitive” info I had seen about it.
