  1. So help me get this right. If the Lakers clear the space they can sign a max. Then they can go over the luxury to fill out the roster? Is that correct? You just can't go over the cap to get a max. You must have the space available before July 6. No clue why anyone would help them. So dumb if anyone does. As constructed Lakers are 1 injury away from resting the other guy and being so horrible tickets will be free the rest of the season. Don't help them.
  2. Rumors floating Director LeBron is making up for lost salaries in Space jam. 2 roles. Problem for Khawi since he has zero personality and doubtful acting ability.
  3. I like Barrett but he won't be there. After that there's lots of guys to like but no one that's going to start on your team next year or any guaranteed guy in the years to come. I like rui, culver and Hunter. Just off the top of my head. No sense in getting rid of Turner and a puck for that
  4. For conversation and info. Read this the other day. https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2019/06/why-nba-sign-and-trades-are-rare-2.html
  5. I'm calling smoke and mirrors on the Turner and 18 for the #4. Just trying to drum up a bigger offer.
  6. Dan Patrick just said he's going to get 3 years 100 million somewhere and Harrison Barnes is goimg to get near max, he scored 11 points a game.
  7. May be more of a realistic indication of where Vic is. Hold the horses and go all in when he's 100% in 20-21
  8. Two conflicting reports. I'll go with Woj until told otherwise. • The Pelicans are open to waiting to complete the trade to help the Lakers with free agency, but if they move the No. 4 pick to a third team, it could complicate matters because that team or the Pelicans would not likely have the No. 4 pick during Summer League from July 5-15. (Tania Ganguli, Los Angeles Times) • The Pelicans and Lakers plan to complete the Davis trade on July 6, but if they wait to July 30, Los Angles would end up with $32.5 million in cap space compared to $23.7 million. (Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks, ESPN.com)
  9. Do you think Jimmy Butler will take 8-9 million less per year? By all accounts, unless the pelicans are trying to make the Lakers a super team are not going to allow them to wait. Crazier things have happened but no one sees Davis not taking the trade kicker. You are a smart and reputable poster. Did you read your first article all the way through? It explains all this.
  10. They are in a predicament with max players. From my understanding it's not like the Yankees. https://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/la-sp-anthony-davis-trade-lakers-salary-cap-20190616-story.html
  11. Could Ball and Jrue be redundant? Could they be interested in trading for Turner? I would be. Say LeBron or Davis gets injured, they would shut the other one down too and that pick becomes a top 3 real quick. They are going to limit Lebrons minutes as is, so they will likely be a 6-8 seed. Granted they could get kemba, butler, Tobias, or another high quality player, so we will see.
  12. What will ultimately happen is some team will sign a horrible max contract like Charlotte to super max their guy, i cant even think of his name, kemba, there it is. Or cp's contract in houston. Those are how you take 1 step forward 3 steps back. I think the pacers manage to take 1 small step forward, just don't know how yet.
  13. Do it. Who we giving up? Outside of Vic, it's worth it. He turns 24 in Feb.
  14. It looks like Durant can only sign a 4 year with other teams and 5 with GS. " a four year max worth about $164 million. The Warriors, though, are the only team that can give KD the five-year max worth an estimated $221 million." I get what you are saying and these elite guys think highly of themselves. He has a close up look and relationship now with Cousins who has and is going through the rehab process. Here's a historical perspective of 9 players that went through this. Dominique was so special, we forget. https://www.si.com/nba/2019/06/11/kevin-durant-achilles-injury-news-recovery-history A lot of talking heads are saying, re-up on this one year deal where you are familiar, show you are back, make one more run with the boys, then go get your final 4. Love this time of year. Really wish the Pacers could add two pieces that could make them like a Detroit team that made a run. Just feel like no matter what they do they will wind up short.
  15. That article I quoted shows if Klay and KD both take a max deal they're going to be $180 million over the salary cap with the repeater tax. I think for that reason Durant is going to have to take a max deal. It's going to be about the business at that point. The thing is is if Durant can opt in for one year I don't see him doing that because it's too big of a risk if he never comes back the same he won't get another Max. I think he has to take the max this year from somebody, so he's going to opt out of this last year with golden state. it'll be really interesting to see if golden state offers him the max or just goes all in on Clay alone and essentially let's Durant go to the next or whoever else will offer him a Max.
  16. Predictions anyone? KD opts out and extends for 5 year max with GS(becomes a business decision over pride with that injury). He turns 31 in September. A full year to return healthy. Klay would then be too expensive to keep. Klay joins LeBron in LA. Khawhi to Clips, because he's weird. https://warriorswire.usatoday.com/2019/02/20/golden-state-warriors-salary-klay-thompson-kevin-durant/ there's just no way to sign both with the repeater tax penalty.
  17. Rare air. Not too many guys could have been traded places with Kawhi and pulled this off. Jordan, Kobe, a healthy full steam LeBron. Maybe a fully healthy Durant. Probably many more but that was a historic run in its own right.
  18. I just turned it on 15 mins ago. Amazing so far. Okay just went down backward though.
  19. Everyone talks about getting rid of a guy a year early, not a year late. To me, Sabonis and Turner both are still 3-4 years away from that. The only question is do you want both and can you make your team better by movimg one of them? I honestly think Pritchard is too smart and is actually trying to get Boston to over pay for an aging sort of star. Boston has some serious decisions to make. Although they are load3d with picks still and hoping Hayward gets back to form after a full year like PG did.
  20. Nor should they. He'll be 32 at season start getting paid 32 and 1/2 million this year in 34 million the next year. That's going to be a pass for me. Memphis is already made clear they want to dump him so they are going to have to lose on this deal
  21. I think you're meaning the all NBA teams. Have a question for everyone regarding the supermax so say the Hornets wind up giving Kemba Walker a super-max contract. Do they get a bump on what their salary cap is or do they still have to work within the confines of the salary cap just like everyone else. I don't feel like there's really an advantage for Charlotte to sign Kemba Walker to 40 million dollars a year they're going to wind up like Memphis and at the very bottom picking Last Tear in a few years. Honestly same thing would have happened with Paul George you're not going to bring any help in here paying these guys supermax. One guy getting almost 40% of your salary cap is absurd.
  22. For our information. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/nba-market-size-nfl-mlb-nhl-nielsen-ratings/
  23. Wouldn't that be wild? Probably won't happen unless new Orleans doesn't want to make instant title contenders out of Boston. We know Presti has serious Kahuna's, and honestly, you have to look at Westbrook and just admit he doesn't play championship ball. Can anyone offer a better player than Westbrook? Getting Davis to resign in Oklahoma is unlikely but pg did it.
  24. That has certainly become the narrative but it actually doesn't hold water, at least since 2009. I couldn't find info from 2008 so I quit going back. From 09- now, only one year in that span did the Colts go over the cap. 2013 3.5 mil.
  25. I would be curious to see what operational costs and actual owner profits are. I get that these sports teams bring in millions of dollars downtown and therefore warrant the tax breaks and in many cases, cash incentives to come or stay. Kudos to the local t alking heads for drumming up this same conversation. It's time for the billionaires to bring in the stars to chase a championship. I'm sure you know this but the trade was determined for the rights to the pick. Then the spurs told the pacers who they wanted at that pick. Most people at the time liked the trade and it did bring aome value to the pacers for a few years. Sure hindsight is always 20/20. Going forward if the spurs or patriots ask you to trade, you just decline.
