  1. Sure, we got married here in Manhattan city hall and had to go through a metal detector. It makes sense. But do I then have to go through a metal detector to go to church, the bakery, the liquor store, the bookstore? I have to stop and be patted down because Barney Fife can’t go to the Subway to pick up a sandwich w/o carrying several guns? F*ck that. I shouldn’t have to give up my freedoms, b/c Barney Fife is too scared to live his life w/o carrying.
  2. You aren’t pissing me off at all. And I’m not sure which mental issues are treated as normal. They are pretty much all treated as an afterthought and a joke. And sure, the police yesterday were much better than Uvalde, but if the person was receiving mental treatment, then they should not have had access to guns. Where was law enforcement when she walked out with legally acquired guns. And finally, I’m cool if people want to choose guns over kids, but just admit it. Admit that the stupid easy access to guns is more important than the damage they do to our country.
  3. Good for Tamar, just never really seemed to click for him here. Hope he lands somewhere and thrives.
  4. So, the answer is not to do anything about the US being absolutely flooded with guns. To let people open carry multiple guns literally in every single open public space w/o restriction, and then add more guns by having armed volunteer guards at the entrance and exit of every public venue. Sounds like fun AND freedom. Not attacking you as a poster, but I see this argument as a solution, and I just can’t see how more guns is the solution.
  5. Oh, I’m well aware that the police that we pay taxes for to enforce laws are weak and useless. The laws are circumvented b/c the people who we pay to enforce them don’t actually do anything. What is the answer though? I’m not trying to be a dick, I’m just upset that nothing ever changes and we value guns over our children. Same with traffic deaths. The answers are obvious, but god forbid, we slow down or reroute traffic.
  6. I’ve been seeing articles that said the shooter was receiving mental health care. Also so many guns. She was apparently buying them legally and hiding them from her parents. Have been seeing this visual making the rounds today, and it’s just really hard to look at. The pace of these events has just become ridiculous, but nothing changes. And this visual even removes stuff like armed robbery or gang violence. This is an insane explosion of these types of events. But sure, lets coddle gun companies and keep letting our politicians let cowards like the NRA run policy for our country. And no, I’m not saying take everyone’s guns. But FFS make it more difficult to get them and have consequences for misusing them. It’s insane to me that it’s 2023 and the two leading causes of deaths are guns deaths and car deaths. Both f#*king largely preventable if we gave a shit. But we don’t.
  7. When I saw all of the over 150 new posts here I thought we would have good news about a commitment. Nope, just bickering. And somehow @Sea Turtle being the voice of reason at one point. Good thing it’s cocktail hour, so I can wash that bad taste out of my mouth.
  8. Understanding and tolerance are a really good start. It’s hard to know how other people are struggling, if we don’t even acknowledge that struggle as real. I also have zero expectation that most people in the US care about the struggle of others. That’s kind of how we got to where we are today. It’s all “I got mine and if you didn’t get yours, then you must be flawed in some way.”
  9. Man, that photo is haunting. We have failed today’s children is so many ways. It’s really brutal to think about all the crap they have to put up with for our “freedoms.”
  10. All these Case knives are from the time period 1964-1986. Pretty sure most of us grew up with Case knives. They are classics for a reason.
  11. Wait, what? They are the big stars. I just thought, “I bet it’s Sydney Parrish.” And yep, it’s her. That’s okay, b/c she is a baller, but she is NOT Grace or Mackenzie level baller at all. She is blond though. SMH. It was exactly what I expected.
  12. They do not let up on the profanity - especially the term c*cksucker. Timothy Oliphant really grows into his role at the end of the first season, beginning of second season. The nudity is pretty tame compared to most shows though.
  13. So, I haven’t reported back about Deadwood, but I absolutely love it. I thought the highlight of the first season was painfully watching the Preacher storyline. Am on S2E6 now and it’s just such a well done show. The dialog is often so crisp that it often feels like I’m watching a play in person.
  14. Priller from the top ropes! You love to see it.
  15. Really cool. I have never seen the Northern Lights. But definitely on my bucket list!
  16. Yep, small place here too. Not having her around and not hearing her claws on the hardwood floor or having her beg for food. Was so hard to adjust.
  17. I totally get it. I was up with insomnia last night surfing on Imgur and a guy had posted a photo of his dog eating. The long text underneath was basically “last meal.” They had tried a few things to save the dog, but ultimately had to schedule euthanasia the next morning. I was sad. But then, the guy opened up about how guilty he felt b/c he had kind of placed his old buddy on the back burner when his kids were born. Talked about how he knew the dog needed more attention, but that he was so wrapped up in his kids, that he just didn’t spend the time with his old pal. Now that he knew it was so close to the end he was really beating up on himself b/c he hadn’t spent the time with his dog. Was trying to make up for it in the last 48 hours by spending all the time with him that he could. It was 3:30am and I was in tears hoping to not wake up the wife. Just typing it now, I’m tearing up…
  18. Really glad that worked out for you and your family. Super good vibes!
  19. Yes, it’s amazing how much hey get back next year. Future is bright!
  20. Yeah, I guess I at least had the expectation that the women would come back. Which made it even worse. Guess it could be worse, we could be Purdue!
  21. Well that was unexpected. Carbon copy of the men’s game. What a miserable tourney this year for both teams.
  22. In today’s NYT. Very cool! https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/20/sports/ncaabasketball/indiana-hoosiers-teri-moren-dad.html
  23. Much respect to TJD. I feel lucky to have been able to witness his time at IU. One of the all time greats in my eyes!
