I was not happy with hiring of Coach Woodson initially either. Man was I wrong! I have been wrong many times, but I have never been this happy about how wrong I was. What an incredible staff!

I wish that all of our fallen brothers were here to share this excitement with!

Man has Woody hit the ground running, or what! It’s been too long since I felt this upbeat about IU basketball!

After four years of gaslighting about how he was such a great coach, I love all the subtle shots at Archie that are trickling out of the program. Dolson’s “normal person” comment and comments about what the players told him they wanted, and now TJD saying all the life was sucked out of the program and the offense sucked. Mike Woodson immediately appears to be shaping up as a significant upgrade.
I had no idea how bad it apparently was. I know that this team had some limitations, but now I will always wonder what might have been.

UPDATE - I asked each of the starting 5 separately an none had heard of Woodson. The best one who is a D1 recruit said, "Coach, I would be lucky to name 10 current head coaches in the NBA." So, I'm not saying this as a knock on Woodson as they also wouldn't be able to tell me who the coach for Arkansas or Alabama is. I'm just saying I disagree that recruits are going to know who Woodson is unless they grew up in Indiana and their parents were big fans. Actually maybe their grandparents. I'm 47 and don't remember Woodson.
Get off my lawn, you young whipper snapper.😉

I am intrigued by the idea of the brain trust that is potentially being put together for the program. There are of course concerns about how this will play out and whether or not the personalities will mesh. However, I like the idea of having the this level of basketball knowledge and experience onboard. Our culture, in general, does not have much respect for older people with vast experience, but in the appropriate situation, they can have a great deal to offer. If we can combine this knowledge and experience with the right assistant coaches, it could be very effective. If we are looking to bring in a younger assistant and train him/her to be the next head coach, what an amazing staff of mentors for that person to learn from. I am going to support our staff and program and I am looking forward to seeing how this works.

Initially, I was pretty bummed out by this hire. Like so many others, I wanted Brad Stevens. Now the more I read, the more positive I am about Coach Woodson. I also like the idea of the brain trust that he is putting together. I am choosing to be cautiously optimistic and support Coach Woodson and our program.

I honestly doubt that Woodson was anyone’s first choice, more than likely not IUs. I was not for Woodson at all, but I’m researching him and finding him to be a players coach which I think IU needs. We need to give the man a shot and understand there will be some growing pains. The man can flat out coach, see the list of NBA Players that love him. Woodson wants IU back more than anyone and he doesn’t have a big enough ego not to listen to some people that want to help. I think this is going to be a really good hire, let’s see who his staff rounds out to be and let’s get behind him.

I wish him all the success in the world. I don’t expect that to be the case though.
Oh well, now I can put away those pesky dreams of greatness for IU men’s basketball.

How far we have fallen! I’m trying to figure out why I should care about IU basketball, when the university apparently does not.

Sampson to Texas. Bank on it!
Anything is possible, but he just signed a contract extension and has his son set up to replace him at UH.

Why not Cal to IU?
I assume that you are being sarcastic. Not going to happen. If it did, IU basketball would be dead to me.

Got my hopes up again. Now it will be difficult to get excited about who ever we hire. I will support them, but my expectations have been tempered.

I’m kind of the same. I bought in SO hard with Donovan. Now this time I will concede the smoke is in more places and is much thicker, but still that one burned me as a fan bad so I’m very leery to get on board 100%.
But I’m losing my grip on my control.I’m with you on that, brother!
Now for something completely different: Ilive about a mile north of The Woodlands.
