If X is out does Woodson turn to Leal, or does he go with one of the walk ons in Rayford or Creel? The first thought would be Leal being on scholarship however I’d go with whoever has the most PG skill.

Last I knew, Rayford was injured. Also, isn't he 2/3 instead of a PG?

I've been trying to figure us out just like everyone else. I finally found the answer, once I dusted off my Crimson Glasses. Woody KNOWS he has a line up that clicks so he holds them while allowing everyone else time under pressure to prove themselves out. Real, struggle bus, game time in real world environment, not a controlled practice setting.

Beating our first two opponents by 40, doesn't grow us and doesn't get group 2 real pressure forcing them to grow. This is the only possible answer !! :)

I like it! I don't believe it but I like it.

On the pregame radio show with Fisch, the Army coach confirmed that they could not use the portal. Maybe it's a very recent thing, but I thought he should know....

I looked it up and West Point does not take transfers at all. People wanting to attend after taking some college must apply and go through 4 years just like kids right out of HS.

It appears players can transfer out, though. As I previously noted, Jordan Rayford entered the portal and ended up at IU from Air Force.

There were 2 Army basketball players in the transfer portal last spring, so the players can leave that way:

I'm taking that as you mean it in jest, but Mac IS probably going to have to guard Tanner Holden, who's no slouch...He average 20 PPG for WSU in 21-22...

I was joking since Mgbako has been terrible on defense. He hasn't even shown much effort in that area so it isn't as though he's trying but doing the wrong thing but instead he either doesn't care or he is completely lost and freezes because has no idea what to do.

A lot of really frustrating things.  On one hand, I would argue that we have the talent.  We have 3 former 5 star recruits.  We have a super experienced PG as a 4th and Galloway who is a returning starter.  Sure, it stands to reason that we lost a lot of talent and we have so many new faces that chemistry issues are expected.  However, isn't that true with most college teams these days?  It hurts that 3 of our best players are probably best suited as a 4.  Undoubtedly best suited as a 4 or 5.  So what do you do?  Not start one of them?  Maybe.  I have always been a fan of starting my 5 best players and giving them a lot of minutes together, then figuring out what style to play, etc, but that ain't workin!  I'm sure MM was sold on the idea of he'll be a 3 in the NBA and we'd give him a chance to showcase that, so it's tough to yank that away.  Would also be really tough to sell Reneau on coming off the bench I'm sure.  For the record, I was devastated when Woodson was hired, but readily admit I like the direction he seems to have us going and the alumni support and hype around the program.  All of that and his recruiting seem to be easy to get behind.  I'm just not sold on the idea that he is a great college bball coach like some seem to easily give him.  I refuse to accept that this season is already a wash!  We have too much talent to have a horrible season.  I'm gonna tell myself that we are still 2-0 and should win Thurs.  One game at a time.  (Okay, yes, I question if we'll win Thurs and feel like UConn will beat us by 30)

Part of the problem is that this team doesn't really have the guard/wing depth to not start one of those guys.

He pulled the Fife stuff out about two weeks ago on Twitter/X completely out of the blue and was flat out calling Woodson a liar.

The various ADs over the past 25 years have made quite a few questionable or outright bad decisions. Not hiring Dakich after Sampson is not one of those and is looking smarter by the day.

Agree to disagree. It's one thing to play the old man, "get off my lawn" shtick. It's an entire other thing to be calling out not only Mike Woodson's coaching resume and ability, but flat out questioning his character.

He's called Woodson a liar and essentially called him unethical. Dakich needs to be put in his place whether it resolves anything or not.

I missed that. Just when I think Dakich couldn't be any more of a bitter loser he proves me wrong.

Sparks wasn't really my point. The point is that if all three come back then I doubt he comes here.

Even if two of them come back he may not want to come. We don't know what Queen values, but looking at this from his perspective, not the perspective of an IU fan, it makes sense to wait until Spring and see how the frontcourt picture shakes out.

I'm pretty sure Ware is gone regardless. Woodson was able to play TJD and Thompson together so no reason Reneau and Queen couldn't play together. So only Sparks would be the direct competition for Queen.

Huh? Ware is widely projected as a lottery pick. I don't think Reneau is NBA ready, but worse players have tested the waters and ultimately declared.

I dont think Sparks is going anywhere, but if all three do end up coming back, then I doubt Queen comes here.

I doubt Sparks returning scares off a 5* recruit. Especially one who hasn't eliminated Kansas despite them having Bazinga in coming.

Yeah, I voted for Cupps too. Not because I was trying to justify anything.

I voted for him because FGCU was on a 10-0 run and had taken a 6 or 8 point lead (can't remember) and the game was slipping away.

Woodson put Cupps in and his defense directly sparked a 14-0 run and got us back in the game. His defensive intensity got XJ and Galloway re-engaged on that end, got us in transition and then helped change our offensive flow.

Obviously voting for Ware or Galloway is completely reasonable, but IMO Cupps changed the game in a way that got us back in it at a crucial time that also makes it reasonable to vote for him.

I remember when Galloway was that player who would come off the bench and put some life into the team through pure effort. It's valuable to have that kind of guy.

Doesn't look like Luke Brown landed anywhere after Stetson.

Also, wasn't there a South Bend girl that was supposed to play for Maryland?

Luke is on the roster at Indiana Wesleyan but apparently hasn't played in any of their first four games.

I'm so glad Miller didn't offer him as so many fans wanted. Those same fans would've been clambering for him to play instead of riding the pine. Of course, based on how his college career has turned out, he probably would've transferred out in a year or less.
