Another year of having to put up the stupidity that is Davis Bell. He will take out starters to early when they are out crying well but will let bullpen guys totally blow a game wid open.
Today they were down 2-1 going to the 7th and let Sims walk 4 guys and give up 3 rums before taking him out.
Abbott had thrown 104 pitches. Their isn't a manger in MLB baseball that will leave a guy in after 104 pitches in the 6th inning.

I see two digits there.

I'm going to temper my expectations. A lot of excitement about new guys coming on board, but new is always exciting, but often disappoints.
I dont watch enough basketball outside of the Big Ten to have a good feel for the impact Rice and Ballo will have.
What I do know is our best player from last season is going to the NBA. Let's not lose sight of the impact Ware had last season. We were probably a 10-12 win team without him.
Mgbako is the key for me. If he can become a Christian Watford type player, IU has a chance to be good. If not, next year may be a little bit better than this past year, but I'm not expecting a conference title or a Sweet 16 run if Mgbako doesnt take a big step forward.
New is exciting, but it's also unknown. I'm going to take a wait and see. I always overrate IU at the start of the season. Not going to do that any more.

One of the "Boys of Summer" (great book, btw) Carl Erskine or "Oisk" as Brooklynites called him died at 97...
Born and raised in Indiana. I believe he was like the 5th or 6th oldest living MLB player.

Just to he way the game is played nowadays...
In the 70s, they used to call Steinbrenner's Yankees the best team money can buy...
Doesn't tarnish those 2 World Series trophies one bit...
No. But it makes the A's 3 titles and the Reds 2 more impressive.

Setting up for a Woody, show us what you got.
Your last few words, which I deleted, added a lot of context. What is shown above is what my mind processed the first time.

He's probably involved also, but if I'm giving money to a basketball program, I'd sure as hell want a basketball coach talking to me, not just an administrator.
You're posting before updating the scholarship grid again.

We all have our tastes and opinions of what good golf is.
I'm not saying those guys aren't good golfers. Just that I can sit down to watch on Sunday and not miss them.

I'm happy when IU gets their guy. And, I'll always be a Hoosier fan. But, man I'll take a team like Indiana State had this year every time over one that was constructed in the mold of George Steinbrenner's Yankees (youngsters can google him).
If a genie were to grant me my college basketball wish, I would put the game back like it was before free agency.
Oh, and you guys can get off my lawn!

Today.
Social media rumors strike again. Rory is not my favorite, but at the same time I would hate to see him defect. Kind of like Phil with me. Wish Phil would have stayed.
On the other hand, guys like Koepka, DeChambeau, and Cam Smith? I enjoy PGA golf more without them.

Yankees were glad to get rid of him, damaged goods.....
He had a pretty good start to the season before last night. I'll think he'll be fine. He's already shown a lot of leadership with the Reds young pitchers.

Holtzman was on 4 World Series Championship teams. A's in 72, 73, & 74. And Yankees in 77.
He threw a lot of innings with the A's. I think 297 of them in one season. It would take the average starting pitcher 2 fill years to throw that many nowadays.

RIP.
But, I'll have to argue for Sparky as the best manager in my lifetime.

Dont look now, if Rory goes to LIV look out. LIV will go to 72 holes with a cut have qualifying every year. and the PGA Tour will go broke. After LIV plucks top player after top player. VH not to far behind Rory. The tour jerked around the PIF to long. they will bury them.
If it happens, my take on it would be that Rory would be a hypocrite at the highest level of hypocrisy.

23 today. All 3 of my 30+ homer guys scored more than I expected.

Lucky 7 today. A grid I could go Red heavy. Interesting that @ricoand I got Bench on the same square.

How so? You dont consider Scheffler to be the best in the world? Who wasn't at Augusta on Thursday that could have challenged him?

All,
We merged this original megathread and the Fire Mike Woodson thread. Many threads have been hijacked over the last several months with Woodson debate, please try to keep all of it inside this megathread from now on.

The Mike Woodson thread has now surpassed that of the immortal Moses Abraham as well as that of the nomadic Luke Brown.

At least here in the Indy area I haven't been able to watch all the Reds games. They are on the same channel as the Pacers so any time the Pacers play we don't get the Reds game.
I would not like that at all. I have Direct TV and, in the Louisville market, we get both Pacers and Reds, but on different channels.
-
I am totally into MLB this year. There were several years in a row where I barely even watched the Reds. Now, I'm watching any game, Reds or otherwise, that I can make time for.
I can honestly say the pitch clock and elimination of the shift saved baseball for me.

I watched the lasat 3 innings of the Brewers-Orioles, and the Os have some really good young talent...I know the Holiday kid gets all the hype, but they have a kid named Cowser that has some electric power...He cranked one out today...
I think they said the average age of their starting 8 in the field today was like 25
Orioles have the best collection of young talent that we've seen in many years.

This is right up there with Lou Piniella throwing the base as my favorite ejections of all time. Schwarb's was on Sunday Night baseball, and I was watching. Loved it.
