  1. Anyone heard anything regarding personnel changes to the O Line?
  2. I don’t think anyone cares about the population of the city, you go to college to hang out with college kids, not hang out with adults who live in the city. Unless that’s different at Cincinnati I guess? I think Bloomington is a vastly superior college town than Cincinnati is. Not to mention Indiana as a brand is pretty far above Cincinnati regardless of what you want to argue. But if this kid wants to follow an important figure in his life wherever he goes, good for him. I think most people knew he’d follow him wherever he went.
  3. Who do we even expect to be the starting 5? Seems like there’s a ton of options so it’s hard to figure out a rotation. Is JHS a day one starter?
  4. Honestly, no offense to UC but I’d hardly call Nippert Stadium a big environment. I’m sure their crowd will be energetic but if Nippert was in the Big Ten it would be by far the smallest stadium in the conference. it only seats 40,000, for comparison, even Northwestern seats 47,000. It is the smallest stadium we will play in by a considerable margin. Second smallest will be Rutgers, and that’s a considerable jump up at 52,000.
  5. The good news is, from what I’m hearing, the divisions won’t be around for much longer.
  6. QB has a big arm that can make all the throws, seem to have WR’s more than capable of taking the top off the defense. Decent running attack, stable of backs some of which seem quick and able to pop a big play. Will easily be the biggest test for our secondary this season. That’s just from what I’ve seen of them.
  7. Western Kentucky would smoke Nebraska and could give Rutgers and Maryland games. im not saying we are destined for 7 or 8 wins (although I don’t think it’s impossible), but let’s not pretend like Western Kentucky is some east G5 opponent that we should beat by 30.
  8. I’m really torn on this team. On one hand, the way they’ve played they’ll lose handily if they keep it up. on the other hand, it feels like we haven’t put it all together yet. Hopeful we can we do it this week.
  9. In zero of our games I would say we’ve looked like a good, well rounded football team… that’s concerning. That being said, we haven’t played our best football but have shown up when needed and are 3-0. I think you can see flashes of a good team. When it’s do or die time, our guys seem to know how to lock in and get the job done. @Cincy is clearly a big game. I don’t think anyone knows exactly what to make of this team, and while I think Illinois and Western Kentucky are both solid teams, Cincinnati will be a step up and we will need to be significantly better than we’ve been so far this season. Is this the week we do it, or is that just the kind of team we are? A team with talent but just can’t put it all together with a lot of guys with “potential” but might just not ever realize it? The trenches are certainly an issue. I like Benson at RG significantly more than Weaver. Loved how much the start meant to Murphy at center but really hope Carpenter’s injury is short term or that Knight is back next week…. Because I saw him getting blown off the ball on a few plays vs WKU which does not bode well for his ability to handle Cincinnati and Big Ten lines. Same issue defensively, I like our secondary and line backing core but not sold on anyone on the defensive line (outside of maybe Tevis, he’s been solid this season). If we are going to hang tough and try to beat Cincinnati, that’s where the biggest improvement needs to be.
  10. I honestly think Hiller has to go. It’s becoming a theme.
  11. It is certainly something resembling a football team, I’ve been told.
  12. I don’t know why we have the most stuck up fanbase of all time but being in the game with two minutes left and the ball against a Big Ten team at the season opener is not the scenario fans should be leaving under. I don’t care what the history or the situation is.
  13. Pretty embarrassing. I saw people leaving right before we got the ball back at the end of the game. You kidding me? Team deserves better.
  14. I think people forget Illinois won 4 Big Ten games last year. They just had a tough start to the year but were solid last year. They aren’t some awful team.
  15. Are these new permanent road uniforms? It doesn’t specify it’s for one game.
  16. Anyone heard anything regarding who we expect at QB?
  17. Just on the topic of Hiller vs McCullough…. Anyone think Notre Dame would even spend 30 seconds looking at Hiller for a job there? just don’t get this at all.
  18. I mean, I like the defensive changes but that’s not exactly what our weak point was. Our offense was horrendous. The O Line was probably the absolute weakest part of our team.
  19. No, but it’s pretty perplexing we’ve had the most disappointing football season probably in program history and have made one single significant coaching change. Why are we willing to lose McCullough to protect Hiller? What O-Line has Hiller trotted out that’s ever performed above expectation? Our O Line has been consistently worse than what it was under previous coaching. I just don’t get this at all.
  20. That’s sort of avoiding the topic. Yes, it clearly looks like he’s out. If he’s out, it doesn’t mean he’s wrong. if he’s out because he doesn’t think Allen holds coaches accountable….. that’s not a good look at all. Frankly I’d think it’s absurd if we lose McCollough because of Hiller. Give me DM all day over Hiller.
