Trust me. I'll be diving into more but I trust you guys on here to point out the errors....far more than the IHSAA could ever do.

I've never understood why they wouldn't just enlist about 30 coaches from Gary to Evansville and the Haute to Richmond....from all sizes of schools to make the most sense. I know Indy causes problems statewide for classes and scheduling.

My point is within 3 minutes of release people are going what are you doing here or there? How could they arrive at those sectionals making sense?

Splitting hair a bit in 5A and 6A.

3A and 2A are just funny. Oh well lol

North Knox to Cascade 2hr.

Cascade to Scecina 1hr. Tomorrow I'll give you the whole south and you'll see how much easier this could have been done.

Here's 2A in the south currently. Creating MULTIPLE 2hr drives... drives that are 115 miles a part.

The bottom map is how they should have drawn the sectionals.

Places like Sullivan, Switz Co, and Richmond are always going to be difficult to place.. but taking three schools from literally Indy-- Triton Central, Scecina, and Christel and putting them with teams in the deep south is just mind bottling to me.

Good news is the traffic doesn't seem to be too bad.  :coffee:

I'm happy Silver Creek got in #23.  They could just have easily put them in #24.  They just aren't close to anyone else in 4A.  No, they won't beat East Central, but there are more winnable games in #23 than there are in #24.

They can easily compete for the 2nd or 3rd best in that sectional. Mooresville getting out was big for them.

Well done. In 6 boxes you've illustrated how insane that is to have high school communities on the road for 2 hours there and back on Friday nights.

Can't speak for others but this was about 20 years ago. Prior life. We were heading down to French Lick Casino for Golf and Gambling weekend. All I know is apparently I missed a road out of Bedford or Mitchell. I think it was SR60. I'm still cruising along on 37 and I start seeing signs for I64 and I know I'm screwed.

All I'm saying is asking communities to cruise around the country side every Friday night in the fall is asking for problems.

I'll fuggin laugh my butt off if Scecina has to go to Pekin. @5fouls can attest.

Corn field, corn field, bean field, Pekin HS, corn field, bean field, bean field.

(This isn't a knock on Pekin for those reading, I love the country life)

Love country. Even being a city raised kid...I still love the country but I also know two lane roads in the winding roads of Southern Indiana. Danger, danger, danger for out of towners.

You mentioned the cluster in an earlier post.  Do you supposed they didn't send Perry south so they didn't have to split up Southport and Perry?  I kinda assume those two are attached at the hip.

I guess. But why?

I do think we are nitpicking a little here, because truthfully it is not an exact science and we are talking mere mins as the difference, but on the map.. FC, Southport, Tech and WC seem like the 4 closet with CG, CN, Jeff, and Perry being together.

But yeah, I guess seperating SP and PM was just too much?

Just a weird line to draw imo

I have zero interest in seeding sectionals. It would absolutely benefit us, but I prefer the drawing out of a hat.

I agree.  You dont often see a Cinderella win sectionals in high school football, but seeding takes away what little hope they may have.

And, if they would do it in football, they would likely do it in other sports as well.

You gotta beat them regardless. Heck with it.

Was bored today--

heres the map of the way it is now.... the second graph is the way it should be. This is the entire south, yesterday I just showed three of the four sectionals.

It literally shrinks everyone's drive in each of their sectionals in the southern half of the state. It also stays in a much more historical version of they way these sectionals have been drawn before.

And just to show you the most extreme cases that would effect....

Switz Co, Pekin, and Clarksville would all have 85 mile+ drives to get to Scecnia, Christel, or Triton.... instead at most, one school would have ONE drive of 85 miles+... and that is Switz Co vs. Crawford Co. Again, schools in the corner of the state... that is simply going to happen at times. Idk how you can look at that first map and try to comprehend it. They have created so many 1.5hrs+ drives when they weren't needed at all. But again, no checks and balances... they won't explain themselves. Smh.

I don't keep up with high school football as much as you guys do, and certainly not in the Southern part of the state. Just wondering, why do the games have to be played at one of the school's home field? Play it at a neutral site, halfway between. They do this for the basketball tournament. Why not football?

Our HC has already done that.  These sectionals set weird precedent. I'm at least glad you can look at this and be confused like me lol

How could you make that work with a 9 day notice? Too much planning for the unknown host school.

You could do it for regional or semi state, which I'm in favor of trying, not for sectionals though.

Basketball is all hosted at the same site, which isn't possible for football.

Honestly, what it looks like is that they drew a straight line in the middle of the state from the Michigan border to the Kentucky border.   If you were on the east side of the line, you were put with other schools in the east.  If you were West side, you were paired with other schools west of the line.

Only thing I can think of.
