Horribly sad news to pass along.  Owen Scheele, who was going to be the starting QB for Carroll (FW), died today of a very rare, very aggressive form of leukemia.  Please say a prayer for the family.  You just never can take tomorrow for granted.

One of the best weeks of the year.

AM Varsity kids have their usual M-W 730-11 workout and practice

Then they go to either the go and help the 5th/6th grade camp, or they're helping the 7th/8th grade camp.

TH night- team meeting. Rules, etc.

Fri--

Superstars competition: bench, squat, clean, 40, backward 30, and T test. Along with a couple of other competitons.

Saturday- 7 on 7 and lineman challenge.

Glorious week for football in Brownstown. We are off next week for the fair (we have so many kids with livestock or other 4H activities we have always given them that week off)....

And the following monday official practice starts.

How are we feeling about the Braves this year? I know you guys lost a good amount of players due to graduation, but Coach May is one hell of a Coach to get a nice squad rolling into the playoffs.

We bring back a 6'5 210lbs QB that ran for 1200 yards and 22 TDs last season.... he's the only offensive starter we bring back.

We will have plenty of firepower though... all 4 slots and both WR and TE can flat out burn. But... they are young and inexperienced.

Defensively we replace 7 starters, but 3 returning starters on the DL.

I saw a FB comment mentioning that entire O-Line graduated, but wow, sounds like the offense might have a rocky start for the first couple of games.

What took so long?

It’s been heating up over the last week and half. Allegedly more Central players are transferring out and being eligible for to play this semester. However if they are transferring to either Memorial and Mater Dei they are being blocked to play varsity. Also, allegedly an North player was on planning on to transfer to Memorial, but was not going to play varsity nor jv.

Judging by the teams so far, Top 5 in the SIAC:

1. Mater Dei- Solidly holds #1 with the addition Central QB Herdes transferring. The Wildcats will be very good this season and might make another appearance at State.

2. Memorial- Holds the #2 spot, for now, starting to sound like the Tigers might be banged up a little, going to to be a tough 4 weeks with Jasper, North and Mater Dei. But the Tigers are deep this year and big in the trenches

3. Jasper- People are looking down on Jasper this season, due to losing quite a bit, but the defending SIAC champions will want to make a statement in Week 1. Coach Lewis will have them ready in Jerry Brewer Alumni Stadium.

4. Reitz- With the QB problem solved, the Panthers edge Castle for the #4 spot. However, with a young QB and an inexperienced O-Line, there will be some challenges for the season. On paper, Reitz should improve, but there are some questions looming.

5. Castle- Similar situation with Reitz, however, if Castle gets their QB situation solved and more experience on the O-line, watch out. Defense will be good this season. However, will be placed at #5, due to inexperiences on the QB/OL positions.

SIAC is going to be fun this season, since it feels like it is wide open.

Washington travels to Logansport Saturday of week 2. That's a 3+hr drive. Kinda confused by that scheduling.

Yea, I don’t know what is up with these long drives at all. Last year, Gibson Southern had a 2.5 hour drive to South Warren in Kentucky. Then in 2019, Memorial had to drive up 2+ hours to Northview (which was live-streamed too apparently)
