Not if they're boneless...then they're nuggets... or Redbull.

Please spread awareness about this. There are many on here unaware of the miscategorization we have had for boneless chicken for YEARS.

Boneless wings are and ALWAYS will be, chicken nuggets!

And Miller Kopp isn't and NEVER will be, Ted Kitchel.   LOL  😂

I totally get that, but I also think we are once again limiting ourselves on playmaking and shooting at the 2 and 3 with that lineup. This team needs more dynamic guys on offense and our best shot at that is JHS and Bates being able to start.

Our best lineup last year, by far IMO, was X, RP, Trey, Race, and TJD and that was because you had so many playmakers. I think JHS and Bates have the potential to be at least as good as RP and Trey as playmakers combined, but better scorers. We shall see.

I think XJs arrest have sort of dulled our thoughts on him a bit. Heck, he could be 2nd or 3rd team All B1G and in the running for the defensive team.

That's a heckuva start to a team!

17p 7a 4r 46% from 3 his last 10 games. If his #s resemble anything like that... shew!

I’d love to see JHS and Bates start at 2-3 but I’m not convinced it’s going to happen.  It may come down to their summers in terms of player development.

JHS is an excellent prospect.  Winning player.  Facilitator.  Does the right things.  Not necessarily a shooter or scorer though.  I could see him start with X because X can give us shooting.

The last time we saw Bates, he had a ton of holes in his game.  He’s got as much potential as anyone.  He’s got the ability and profile to make the biggest jump on the team.  Length, athleticism, good makeup, confident kid.   But can he clean up his defense, handle, and decision making?  How much stronger will he be?  If he makes all those jumps he can absolutely start.  But IMO that’s a big summer to get there.

I could see Dennis and Kopp start from an experience and floor spreading standpoint.  But if either of those guys aren’t a good matchup we will have Galloway, JHS and Bates to come in.  Woody is not afraid to sit somebody down if he’s not the right matchup.

Yes, he can play the three. Wings are wings.

Figured.. I didn’t know enough about his game so I thought I’d ask. I do know he good athleticism and elite defense.
Hypothetically, I wouldn’t be mad if he knocked Kopp to 6th man. I think MK would actually do better in that role.. nobody would expect him to do something he’s not capable of.

Regarding Kopp, he’s nowhere near Kitchel.  Ted was a high profile player who could really go get buckets. He was a killer as a shooter and that baseline jumper was devastating.  He had an edge to him that he knew he was scoring. If Kopp were anywhere near that, of course he’d automatically start.

Having said that, I kind of get the comparison and Kopp could be a Kitchel light.

I touted Kopp yesterday.  But I was getting at a guy who could score more like 7-8 pts per game in decent, not high, minutes and hit key shots whether he starts or they find a specialist role for him.  Ultimately we wouldn’t have enough shooting without him.  I think he’s a better shooter than this board gives him credit for, which is a team need.  But he’s the type of player who needs to be set up in the right situations.  He’s not Kitchel.

I agree with everyone saying Bates has work to do to start, I could definitely see Kopp, Trey, or DD over him if he doesn’t have a big summer. I well be really surprised if JHS doesn’t start, though.

I don't like using sport phrases but am getting ready to do so. That Alpha dog we saw in Xavier the final 6 weeks paired with another Alpha like JHS (that I see) is a backcourt I can't wait to see.

I agree with this a lot. I think the only spot up for grabs (assuming both TJD and X are back) is the 2 spot vacated by Parker Stewart.

I do think if JHS can translate his mid range, dribble drive game, and defense to the college level, he'll start. It's an awful lot to ask of a freshman, but not impossible.

Tamar has to improve his D and show he can be a consistent threat from outside if he wants Parker's minutes. I think if he works on his game hard this summer, he's the most attractive option. He has the potential to score at all 3 levels.

Galloway is the wildcard to me. If he can shoot from outside and play just a bit more under control, he's a viable option as well. He's already the best defender of the 3.

If any of them and Race can both push their 3 point averages over 35%, that would give us 4 guys that are at least modest threats from outside, along with the added benefit of teams not being able to double Trayce.

It should be a fun battle for Coach Woodson to access.

A Happy Easter Fun Puzzle. The following four players are all 6'4 to 6'7. Based on per 40 offensive stats, who do you pencil as as the starting three?

Player 1: 9.5ppg, 4.1rpg, 1.7/1.5 A/TO, 35.6% FG%, 36.1% 3pt%

Player 2: 10.8ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.7/1.9 A/TO, 33.8% FG%, 29.8% 3pt%

Player 3: 13.8ppg, 11.3rpg, 0.8/2.9 A/TO, 51.8% FG%, 31.0% 3pt%

Player 4: 10.5ppg, 3.2rpg, 3.5/2.6 A/TO, 46.4% FG%, 21.4% 3pt%

Without major lineup changes,  does anyone really see  different results than last year?

It's possible but not a given.  As things stands today, improvement will depend mostly by how much returning players can improve.  With most of the roster returning I'd think some improvement is inevitable just due to experience.

Will anyone provide reliable 3 point shooting?  Will we stop missing so many bunnies?  Will we find a way to keep an opposing player with a hot hand from scoring at will? A lot of things need to get corrected before we can be a really good team.

I see a lot of a classic fan response (all fanbases do this), where we go from thinking we need to significantly upgrade the roster at the end of the season to convincing ourselves this or that player will make huge strides over the summer or that incoming freshman is going to be a difference maker or surprise a lot of people.  Recent history hasn't supported the off-season optimism.

We are due for a player or two, like Geronimo or Bates, to have a breakout season or a freshman to be a significant contributor.  I certainly hope so, but I'm a bit skeptical.

I agree. We need improvement from our athletic players at the wing spot. Kopp is what he is and in my opinion we won't take a leap forward until we have an athletic shooter in his spot. Like you mentioned JG or Bates

I agree...and it's a shame Kopp didn't play during the Knight era because he would have benefited from the style of play then, I believe.  And Coach Knight would have "helped" Kopp with both his defense and offense.   😁

It might depend on what you have at the other positions to make the team work right, but I might be inclined to player 1.

If Trayce is back and we sign Dennis, I think we win 25+ games.   We lost a lot of games where we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.  And we can’t complain about it because that’s who we were and we lost for a reason.   But….I think Dennis fixes some of that (defensive stopper on the wing) as will a healthy season from Galloway.  You get improvement from returning guys and an extremely experienced team and you convert those losses into wins.
