To be devil's advocate, I'm not sure that is a simple answer. It could potentially ruin relationships with HS coaches in the state (Crean was great at that), it could upset the chemistry of the team, you risk DD not picking up the system quickly when the departed player has experience in it, etc.

I think DD seems like a fine player, but all these unknowns seem like a lot to risk for a player of his caliber. Now, if we are talking about a potential 15-20 ppg guy then it's a completely different story. The potential reward outweighs the potential risk.

I know I'm playing the guessing game too, but I think there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. And despite all the rumors (and as much as I don't want it to be true); I still think TJD is not coming back IF another player transfers in.

IF!  Woody continues to recruit at the level he has been. We won't have many Indiana kids on our roster,  unless they are elite. I Kentucky doesn't typically have instate talent like Indiana does, but I am pretty certain Cal could care less what the local high school coaches think. Win big, recruit big, and when the IU scholly is offered it means a lot. Leal dreamed of playing at IU. We need that dream to be on a national level, which means going toe to toe with Duke,  Kansas, Carolina, KY and winning our majority share of recruits

I get what you're saying. It would be a case by case situation. but if you continue to play for the future, you wont be around to experience it.

The state of Kentucky doesn't have 5% of the in-state talent IU does.  That said, I do see a future of Purdue getting more in-state talent than IU.

None of the states those schools are in produce the kind of talent Indiana does year in and year out

I am happy with our roster as it stands if Trayce stays another year. If he stays in the draft, there will be a hole in our defense that I think DD would help fill.

Saying that,  I don’t want any player here that has not fully bought in to what CMW wants. I don’t want any player who is listening to handlers constantly preaching greener grass somewhere else. We have experienced locker room dissent in the not so distant past and it tears a team apart.

If a player is not fully in, then he should be out, Imo

I love when Indiana Kids come to IU,but the truth is talent is talent! No matter where your from! Remember help is on the way group! I believe only Yogi worked out! Calloway was a bust, I like Phineses ,but he didn’t work either injuries hurt him. Landers isn’t Big Ten !
what I trust is Coach Woodson and his assistants recognize the skill set you need at the BigTen level. It’s his first group let see how they do!

GO HOOSIERS!

The state hasn't panned out for us that much recently.  Yes, a guy like TJD has but for each of him there is a Damezi Anderson type.  It goes back to Crean.

f CMW thinks Dennis will improve our team then I trust him.

Good coaches make mistakes all the time on players. I don't think Dennis is what the Hoosiers need. He is Rob 2.0.

If he commits to the Hoosiers I will support him and hope he helps them win games. I just don't think he will move the needle as far as wins go. He is a good defender which is nice, but while they had problems defending wing players they had bigger problems making their 3s. Dennis doesn't help their shooting AT ALL, in fact he is a detriment when it comes to shooting.

To be fair, Damezi was a borderline Top 100 recruit. TJD was a Top 25 recruit. I don’t expect every single Top 100 recruit to pan out, but the odds and expectations get higher as you get closer to the top.

If we add Dennis we are better to immensely better on the wing.

We have solved our biggest problem which was not enough guys being able to break the defense down off the dribble.

We can develop shooting.

That isn't why they are going after Dennis, they are going after him for his defense, not his supposed in your mind ability to break defense down off the dribble. We need shooters and he isn't it. Bates and Galloway MIGHT improve their shooting but it would be nice to have a player that is already a good shooter if they don't.

Sorry, that was in reference to the state's talent not panning out. I think we misidentified/didn't develop way more then the state not producing the talent.

Desmond Bane would have solved some problems.

Oh, gotcha. Didn’t know if it was a reference to Miller taking Damezi over Henry.
