2023 Class Rankings and Discussion

We are not selling immediate playing time anymore, which is a very good thing. The next step is selling kids on being a part of a team that contends for a national title year in and year out. A great season this year will help with that. I think we have the talent and depth to make some noise this year. We have two really good players already committed and an opportunity to add to that before all is said and done. I'm going to worry too much about kids we don't get.

Article today about 2023.  No real news, but some interesting comments.

LOL...so much hand-wringing in the comments.  People forget that these kids are looking at all the talent already on the books and some are going elsewhere for playing time.

Just keep winning... and improving... and gaining national tv attention... and see the recruits line up.  No worries.

Such a great point.

Regardless of who moves on-- Good chance JHS, TG, TB, Banks, JG, Reneau are playing BIG mins in 23-24. That's a pretty freaking solid 6 guys right there. Plus Gunn, Leal, and Duncomb.

We don't have much playing time to sell imo.

It will be interesting to see how Scheyer can assimilate all of that talent.   Duke/ESPN are a recruiting machine, but even coaches K and Cal have had trouble managing all of the egos and interested parties. Every player/parent/handler of recruits ranked that highly think they are OAD, and have expectations for how they are featured. We'll see how he orchestrates the personnel in addition to coaching basketball.

I'm personally hoping he fails and fails spectacularly. It's not personal, it's just f**k Duke.

Those last two words...coaching basketball... are the key.  No guarantee that Scheyer is the second coming of K.  We all know how difficult it is to follow a legend...and I don't care if he was an assistant for ten years or whatever.  He's never been a head coach.  Let's see how people/players feel in five years.

They must get 2 bigs from the portal that can play. MR has shown its going to take time for him to be ready to take over in the post.

I think if we actually play small ball and hes at the 5 he’ll be just fine.  Lane is too clogged for him right now.
