Does Ponderosa still exist? I haven’t thought about it in probably 25-30 years.

Yes.  They still exist, just ain't as many of them.  They pulled out of my area years ago.  But I did eat at one in Coldwater, Michigan not that long ago.

Coldwater.  I know it well.  My wife is a Michigan gal and we blow through there a lot.  Although I might be more inclined toward Paw Paw lol.

Used to drive to Ohio in high school for 3/2 beer, but about once a month we’d trek up to a bowling alley in Coldwater for “real” beer. I live about 20 minutes from there now.

Some nice wineries in the Paw Paw area

I live about 10 minutes east of Paw Paw. St. Julien Winery has a really good festival in the fall.

Been there for lunch and tasting. Did not know about the festival. We spend a fair amount of time visiting the wineries on the Leelanau Peninsula.

I have been there also. Southwest Michigan has so much to offer and up North is just as nice. Hopefully next year we will be spending a couple weeks in the U.P., camping and hiking.

They closed one down a few years back near us. Back in the day (early 90s) one of my older sisters friends became manager of one from my hometown. A few years later I became friends with an assistant manager of the same one. I used to get free meals often. They had good rolls/salad bar.

I know Lake Michigan towns pretty well. Born and raised in Michigan City, and spent lots of time from New Buffalo to St. Joseph. My sister/brother in law have a place in South Haven now that we visit every year. Love that area.

Where is Torch Lake?

I have golfed the nice course in New Buffalo a couple times, but I forget the name of it....it was more than 10 years ago. Nice course.

If you know where Traverse City is, you would go up the west side of the bay to the Leelanau Peninsula. The right, or east side, up about 25 miles, is Torch Lake.

The Dunes is the private course in New Buffalo-,only 9 holes. The Woodlands is another nice course.

I went to the other side...had a girlfriend at St Mary of the Woods College over by Terre Haute, and I'd come by on weekends and whisk her away to Paris for wine drinking and fun for the weekend...

Paris, Illinois 😁

"Woodlands" was where I played...It was just called Whitaker Woods or something back in the day I believe.
