The article on the NCAA tournament auto bids is an excellent read btw

The coach that commented ""Change it. No automatic bids. Find the best 68 teams and let's play. From a coaching standpoint too many guys -- who do a great job -- are being fired from one-bid-league jobs whenever they don't make the tournament in their first four years" That guy is an idiot! Does he think the coach being fired is going to fair any better when he has to get in as an at-large team?

And you know what will happen if we change it? Those leagues go from one-bid to no-bid

I have no interest at seeing a 1-16 matchup of Duke and Colorado.  If they change the format then this kind of matchup will happen.

I agree that the really interesting David-Goliath matchups will be gone, but money drives everything. We see that with conference realignment.

Duke vs Elon is only going to attract a certain audience. Duke vs Colorado much more simply because of fanbase size... More viewers, more money...

“Money drives everything.”  Ironically, there are those of us not interested in buying a product where “money drives everything.”  So we’ll see how long the greed continues before a lot of customers, and their money, disappear.

Us "old timers" are losing the fight...
