i am usually not the optimist, but i think we finish 6th and if we do, i think that is phenomenal.  i said going into the season that there was a reason everyone other than our message board was picking us somewhere between 7-9 in the conference.  6 would exceed expectations to me.  it would also give us a great chance to have a solid showing in the conference tourney.  i also love that PU is looking like a likely 3 seed in their National Championship season.

A 3 seed in which the BIG is way down

For fun's sake, here are the games that have to break our way:

Illinois (H) over Nebraska (A)

Ohio State (A) over Michigan (H)

Purdue (H) over Penn State (A)

Indiana (A) over Nebraska (H)

Penn State (H) over Michigan (A)

Indiana (H) over Ohio State (A)

Maryland (H) over Michigan (A)

Penn State (A) over Nebraska (H)

Most of those... if not all the teams we need to win will be favored lol

In any other year, that would be surprising, but not this year.  I'm OK with that. It's good seeing both UK and the Smellermakers sucking at the same time IU is trending up.

The question is whether the NCAA selection committee react properly to that fact should it hold through the conference tournaments.

The dream is dead for the double bye, as Michigan takes down Ohio State.

There is still a road to the 5 seed. It requires us to win out and Nebraska to lose out, and Penn State to drop one.

Illinois (H) over Nebraska (A)

Purdue (H) over Penn State (A) OR Michigan (A) over Penn State (H)

Indiana (A) over Nebraska (H)

Indiana (H) over Ohio State (A)

Penn State (A) over Nebraska (H)

Now this I can see happening.  Biggest “if” is Illinois beating Nebraska.
