Well perhaps a pretty sizable amount of us do have Aged Single Barrell problems, and sometimes tend to overdo it. For this dilemma, I have a suggestion. For the satisfaction of those near us that have deep rooted objections to our occasional sip, we could appease them and simply quit drinking.

However, we are Hoosiers, and therefore never want to be labeled as quitters. Cheers!

A hearty dilly dilly, good sir.

No picture of my collection and not quite like his, but my wife tells me I have a bourbon problem. Not a drinking problem, just a bourbon problem. Found a bottle of Yippee Ki-yay today....was thrilled!

However, my choice tonight will be Blanton’s Single Barrel.

My wife says the same.  Took a little time living in Louisville to get hooked on Bourbon, but now I collect at a faster rate than I can drink, so I can't buy any additional unless really special.  For my money, Campfire, over a ball of ice is perfect.  Smokey flavor with just a quick bite of sweetness.  Love anything to be honest from High West.

I posted this earlier on a different website. I figured a few of you would enjoy.

A brief recap:

- January 14: "It's over." -Source after the IU-Northwestern game when Romeo showed up with his trainer.
- "We think we're out of it." - Text from Kansas assistant to a coaching colleague of mine.
- "We think he's ours" - One of the IU staff members to a big-time booster after the Maryland game.
- "The Big Ten will prepare him for the NBA with the physicality, the scouting and the tougher road venues." - Source.
- March 6: "There's a big gap to Vandy in 3rd in this." - Source
- March 14: "Drew is scrambling because he thinks it's over. And he's right." - Source.
- Source this morning: "Thank God this is over with after today." <------------------------- (Yes. 100%).

There were 2-3 people that really knew what was going on that I listened to and it just so happens they were dead right about a lot of things said every step of the way.

The point of this post and the clear intention is to be celebrating the fact Indiana University Men's Basketball is getting a great player and the fanaticism and love that our many, many fans have will be on FULL display. It will really be something to see.

What an amazing day ahead. And, much more to come.

Go Hoosiers!

CoachSS, I always look forward to your posts. It was you that said many, many pages ago.....  "It's Great To Be A Hoosier". That stayed with me even through all of the many twists and turns this recruitment took.

Kudos to you!!

Fine looking collection CC. I have a 10 year Pappy that I have been saving for a special occasion. This may be the night it finally gets opened.

Otherwise I will be going with my daily favorite of Blantons.

The 10 year is pretty good.  I have an unopened 20 year in the back that puts me in a dilemma...I bought it for $99 bucks but now that the price has gone crazy I don't want to drink it!  I have a couple of 12 year van winkles that I might have to drink if we get another good pick this week.

Nice dilemma to be in.  I can certainly understand not wanting to open that.  The prices are crazy now.  I just heard on Friday, that my local liquor store is getting in a couple bottles of 12 year this week.  I have already paid for one, just waiting for the call to come pick it up.  Heard it isn't as nice as the 10 year though.

I gotta say, Coach, reading that dilineation of the recent narrative, it was pretty exhilarating. Must have been even moreso for you, being in the know the whole time.

Yeap!  Bought it at a gas station/ casino in South Dakota about 20 years ago! It was stuffed on a top shelf.  They were hoping someone won and would buy it...here's the real kicker... I bought 2 and they gave me 10 percent off.  Red bag and all!  I bought 6 bottles of the  12 year old in East Dubuque Iowa for $46 a piece.  They were trying to get rid of them because they wouldn't sell!  That was 8-9 years ago.  I have 2 left.

That’s a crazy story, my man.

Wanna part with one? 😉

Obviously CC scan corrrect me  if I’m wrong, but a few years ago if you won the Pappy lottery you could get them for suggested retail. I don’t know what happened these last 2 years but liquor stores started jacking up their price far beyond suggested retail. This year my local store was selling a 12 year for $500. Give me a break.

I know with beer like Bourbon County If Goose Island or their distributors get word of this kind of price fixing then they cut off the stores allotment the following year.

12 year for $500?  That's robbery.  I paid $140 for the one I pick up this week and I think I am still getting gouged at that price.

In my opinion Pappy is overrated in general and 20 year is very evident of that at the current prices it garners. I'd sell it, pocket half the cash and spend the rest on a couple selections from Orphan Barrel and Pappy's (Buffalo Trace) own Colonel E.H. Taylor single barrel (small batch is also excellent if you can't find SB). You can grab 5-7 bottles of very good bourbon that I'd honestly rather have before Pappy anyway and still have 600-1000 left over cash depending on how desperate the buyer is.

I agree with this.  It is good, but there are plenty out there just as good.  They create hype and inflate the prices by creating scarcity and slow releasing their product.  Once again, not saying it is not good, but I don't think the prices are indicative of the quality, just the scarcity.

Yep. And I’m sure some shmuck bought it.

I’m a cheap date when it comes to Bourbon....I try all different kinds but somehow always come back to Woodford.
