Pacers vs Cavs Series

I think the Pacers can win it after seeing the game yesterday. I'm not sure who the Cavs can put on Oladipo to slow him down.

How gimmicky can they get on defense? They started the game with LBJ on Collison and Hill on Oladipo and that didn't work. They tried to double Vic and that mostly didn't work. They won't shoot so poorly every game, but i think the Pacers are a tough matchup for Cleveland (and everyone in the East).

In reality.. LBJ can guard VO... but that means you're asking LBJ to do WAY, WAY too much. And VO would still get "his". BUT... that means Collison/Turner vs. GH/Love in the pick and roll, I'll take that match up... it also means Hood guards Bog and I like that match up. But again, the most important part would be how much LBJ could wear down having to guard VO for 40 mins.

Considering LBJ played all 82 games and the most minutes of his career and he played over 40 in a game 1 loss. I love it. the cards are stacked well for a pacers series win the only fear are the refs

LBJ can guard anyone, but as you say he will get worn down chasing VO who is, in reality, faster and constantly moving. You also are opening the door to foul trouble with him guarding a quicker player.

Considering he has only ever fouled out of 1 game I think, the refs will not allow him to get into too much foul trouble. i do agree with the assessment.

I agree.. BUT even if he got into ANY sort of foul trouble at any point it would be huge.

With the officiating though, I fully expect Victor to get two quick ones in game 2.. or have 4 by mid 3rd q. Sabonis 3rd foul yesterday was insanely bad.

It will be very, very difficult for the Pacers to win Game 2. I would guess the shooting will balance out a bit, as the Cavs won't shoot that poorly at home again. Also as had been mentioned, the Cavs will get a lot of favorable calls early that will put the Pacers in a bind, and finally the Cavs backs are against the walls while the Pacers are probably feeling pretty good about themselves. The Cavs are going to have a far greater sense of urgency.

I think the Pacers can legitimately wear down the aging Cavs. As long as they continue to attack the basket and not settle for outside jumpers. I really like this Pacers team and believe that they can do some damage in the playoffs, but they’ll have to be the aggressors each and every game.

@btownqb - I absolutely agree with you about the officiating. That will be a battle in and of itself the rest of the way. When Turner got hammered and didn’t get the call on one end, then LeBron plows into him and got the call on the other end... that pretty much solidified that the officiating was going to be one sided.

Outside of LeBron, the Pacers are a much better team. But as Mark Boyle likes to say, “they have LeBron, and you don’t.” He can take over a game and win it by himself. It’s hard to bet against that. Complaining about the refs is easy but wrong. Pacers took more free throws and the Cavs were called for more fouls in game 1.

That has nothing to do with the missed calls. Bookers illegal screen and Sabonis 3rd foul were terrible.

Until we win the series I'll be guarded with my optimism. With that said...I hope most realize that win yesterday along with 48 wins this season is a huge step forward for this franchise. I'm not saying house money but it's close.

We're 48-21 when Oladipo and Sabonis both play. Not sure why analysts never mention that.

Missed calls happen. There is no conspiracy against the Pacers.

Completely agree there's no conspiracy against the Pacers.. LBJ and his team simply gets calls. It is what it is. Those two yesterday are calls that should never happen.

The foul on Booker was terrible. I don’t think any of the three floor officials were watching when contact was made, it was an overreaction. When LeBron grabbed his face after Lance went after the ball, I couldn’t stop laughing. The fact that it took them four minutes to make sure that it was a common foul was laughable too.

But I thought refs have no effect on the game?

They absolutely do.  I was watching a coed youth league game with kindergarten and first graders this weekend.  The refs let travelling violation, after travelling violation, after double dribble, after illegal screen go uncalled.  I let the refs have it big time.  And, what happens, I"m the one that gets escorted from the gym.  It should have been the refs.
