I've always had a huge appreciation for some of the underdog players like Ricky Olsen (Wis), Jay Burson (OSU), or even Scott Skiles (MSU), they always seemed to play hard and maximize their talents.

Also have to throw in Ricky Green (UM).  Finally, I can't leave Rick Mount off of any all-time big ten greats list.

He was the second one.  Brad Lohaus too the first Knight ordered hit years earlier.  I guarantee the way Dr. Tom Davis loved to guard the inbounder with one of his giants, neither was an accident.

I’m just going to list one, and that would be Brian Cardinal from PU.  He was good and played with soooo much heart.  He was one of those guys that you hated when they played against you, but you loved them when they were on your team.

Well, he wasn't on my team!!!!!!

What an unappetizing topic. Mile, you might as well asked me if I'd like to eat celery, carrots or beets.:|

I don't have a lot of opposing players I liked, but I would say Robbie Hummel and Brian Cardinal for Purdue, Michael Finley for Wisconsin and of course, Magic Johnson for MSU.

On the other hand, if you'd asked me which IU player would be a favorite of other big ten fans, I'd have to guess...

Brad Miller for me. He was from my home town. I remember when he came to my middle school in his Purdue Jersey. He visited the room next to mine all the kids ran to the Window to see him. That's a fond memory. Jump a head to my junior year in football and he came to speak to the team ha  good dude. I went to a grad party that the family was really close to Brad and they had him working the grill lol

Sorry. I thought it would be a good off season topic.

In terms of PU.  Have to agree with your two choices.  However, I am guessing Rick Mount was before your time.

First High School player to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

I like the topic myself.  Kind of neat to see what guys selections are.

I've heard a lot of people from Kendallville  say nice things about Brad Miller.  However, when he played at Purdue, I wanted to punch him in the face.

Super nice guy. Stayed in the community as much as he could while in the NBA. Agreed though, take it with a grain of salt but I was told by someone very close to Brad that Brad really wanted to go to IU.

Always loved Skiles. Guys like Rice and Marble were fine by me. Only Illini player I can really stomach was Deon Thomas. Only reason being is I ran into him at a bar after our game vs them one time....and he had nothing but great things to say about Calbert. So I'll tip my hat to him.

Didn’t he cause a huge storm when he stomped all over the crest in the middle of the court at assembly hall one year? Maybe it was after chad Austin beat us on a last second shot?

He didn’t seem too fond of old IU during his playing days...

At least until 2002 he didn't by his parents a new home. They still lived in a very small home there in town. Used to drink beer with their neighbor (who won the Hoosier Lottery in 90's) but still drove a used car, took lunch to work, and 1 vacation to Clearwater per year. God I love Hoosiers!
