He’s been the key piece for several important commits in the Archie era. He does a terrific job of knowing who the key players are in a recruitment and being laser focused on building those relationships early. If he’s the lead recruiter on a kid who lives in Indiana and that kid tells the media that IU is recruiting them the hardest, the odds are pretty favorable for IU as he’s been able to close most of those kids. Do you think we need to give him a raise to make him one of the top paid assistants so he’s not tempted to leave for a head coaching job? I watched Ostrom after one of Trey’s games. All the coaches recruiting TK were sort of circled around one area near the locker room. Ostrom was there, a UofL asst, and a Xavier asst. The other coaches just stood there with blank stares and didn’t engage TK’s mom in a conversation at all. What was Ostrom doing? He was laughing it up with his mom, playfully messing with her younger son, etc. You can tell there is a level of comfort with Ostrom and the family. Do I feel that alone will sway TK to IU? Not necessarily. But, it’s notable. 11
IU4Ever
If Ostrom has head coaching ambitions and surely he does, COVID-19 probably puts those ambitions on hold for at least another year. Not an ideal time to uproot your family and move into a new job with all the uncertainty that presently exists. Also, I would hazard a guess that a number of AD's have decided to stick with what they currently have and not attempt to hire a new head coach in the current environment. Ostrom was a candidate at NKU last year but he wasn’t connected to any jobs this year.

He’s been with Archie long enough that Archie will likely not lose him to another school unless he is dead set on coaching at that school. If he is dead set on being a head coach at some point then no amount of money will stop him. That said I don’t think Archie needs to worry about that for a few years.

gnet550
Well with the transfer of Damezi, now we could get Kaufman, Aminu, and any of Patterson, Longino or Wesley...I can get down with that
btroesch14
I don’t get why Archie is not recruiting a center for the 2021 class? Do they think TJD will stay another 2 years? I’m assuming TJD will go pro after his sophomore season and IU will land Kaufman, but the tallest players will be Race and TK at 6’8. I don’t think a freshman Duncomb will be able to play that much from day one.

Already has great size and is a fringe top 100 prospect he's consistently shot up the rankings. He's not going to be a 30 mpg guy but neither is any other freshman center. In the event TJD does leave early (still not sold), Race/Duncomb is a solid platoon at the 5 spot.
