Pete Rose was born on 4/14/1941, making him roughly 80 and a half years old.  He played his last game on 8/17/1986.

There are SIX former MLB players who also played their last game in the decade of the 1980's, who are still alive and OLDER than Pete, Two of the six are former Dodger teammates Vic Davillilo (85) and Manny Mota (83).  Davillilo played in 7 games in 1980 at age 44, while Mota made a cameo pinch hitting appearance in 1982.

The other 4 are more prominent names.  Who are they?

Hint #1 - 2 of them are in the Hall of Fame

Hint #2 - 2 of them, like Rose, were eye-witnesses to one of Baseball's most memorable plays.

Is Jim Kaat one of them?

Aways loved this story about Thorpe...

"When King Gustav V of Sweden congratulated Thorpe on his Olympic win, he said, "Sir, you are the greatest athlete in the world."

Thorpe reputedly replied, "Thanks, king."
