Joe Black

There ya go...

Interestingly, it would be 13 years after Joe's win that an African American pitcher would win a World Series game for an American League team...

Mudcat Grant in 1965 for the Twinks versus the Dodgers...

The Cardinals just set a franchise record for consecutive victories.  Which team has the longest record for consecutive victories and how many were there?

(I don't know the answer...LOL...but I'm confident someone here does.)

26 by the (then) New York Giants... I forget the exact year, but it was early in the 20th century...

I remember it from when the Lakers won 33 in a row in the early 70s for the longest winning streak in pro sports history. That broke the Giants record...

I did look it up...happened in 1916.  Cardinals stretched to 16 games today (sorry Cubs fans).

Some Reds Triva here. Name the 5 players that since 1970 that collected their 1st hit as a Red and then went on to get 2000 + hits for their career.

I'm going to guess that's mostly members of the Big Red Machine and Ken Griffey Jr., but I can't say that they all started with the Reds...so without looking, Bench, Rose, Foster, Morgan and Griffey Jr.

Nope 0 for 5. Had to be after 1970 when they began their careers and 1st hit with the Reds.

I always wondered why the Reds gave up on O'Neill...the Yankees got his best years...the guy was a winner and a damn good right fielder...

Pretty good on the kick saves as well. He and Eric Davis were my favorites for that time period.
