Stand in front of the goalpost and try to block a field goal?

I say that because I remember a game he tried to do that for the Chiefs...if I remember right, he was like 6'9 or so...

Or was it using teammates as a ladder on kicks?

The former.

He was 6’10” and would basically goaltend the crossbar.

Yeah, I remember him doing it against the Raiders on a George Blanda last minute kick that won the game for Oakland...he almost got it too...

That use to be a great rivalry in the old AFL...Raiders-Chiefs

Don't quote me but I think Ohtani is the 1st unanimous MVP to not make the playoffs at least since 1931. Prior to that not sure

My usual go to answer on MVP worst team is 1987 with Cubs/Andre Dawson. My guess is he wasn't unanimous.

One other thing I found last night when they were talking about awards,etc....how in the world did Nolan Ryan never win a Cy Young?

My best guess is he was only like 30 or so games above .500for his career. Probably just never had that 1 season

John "chief" Wilson.

I was looking up wally pipp and started reading about the dead ball Era.

Interesting time in baseball...Babe Ruth came along and changed all that...

When Hank Aaron was chasing Ruth's all time home run record, they tried to tack one on...He's hit a walkoff HR with a man on base, but the rules at the time credited the batter with a triple because the winning run had scored ahead of him...They had the Babe at 715 for a time, then came to their senses...

The Wally Pipp story is an excellent one...I love baseball lore...
