Feel good thread!

Recommended Posts

The world is a tough place sometimes, and we ways read about the worst in people.

Since HSN is, in a way, our escape from that, I figured this would be a good place to come to, read something positive, and hopefully feel a little better or be lead to action.

If you read a feel good story, post it here to share. Maybe we can keep this thread active and offer a little something to make people feel good about their fellow man/woman.

This is inspired by KoB's boiler up thread.

Try to watch this and not smile!

My dad was a custodian. Raised my, my brother my sister and a cousin, and somehow got me.through college.

This one hits home. But regardless, it is just so stinking awesome. Need to watch both short vids for the full effect.

Watching puppies always makes me feel good.  But the story of Fiona from birth to now also always brings a smile to my face.

The last few months have been tough on me and my family.  The one thing that has stuck with me is my sense of humor.  Laughter is good for the soul in the most trying of times.  A friend of mine posted this on my site a few days ago.....I still get a kick out of it.

"A father put his 3 year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened to her prayers which ended by saying, "God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God bless Grandma and good-bye Grandpa."
The father asked, "Why did you say good-bye Grandpa?"... The little girl said, "I don't know daddy, it just seemed like the thing to do"
The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.
A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her prayers which went like this, "God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and good-bye Grandma."
The next day the grandmother died.
"Holy crap" thought the father, "this kid is in contact with the other side."
Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed, the dad heard her say, "God bless Mommy and good-bye Daddy."
He practically went into shock. He couldn't sleep all night and got up at the crack of dawn to go to his office. He was nervous as a cat all day, had lunch and watched the clock.
He figured if he could get by until midnight he would be okay. He felt safe in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day he stayed there, drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound. Finally midnight arrived; he breathed a sigh of relief and went home.
When he got home his wife said, "I've never seen you work so late. What's the matter?"
He said, "I don't want to talk about it, I've just spent the worst day of my life."
She said, "You think you had a bad day, you'll never believe what happened to me. This morning my golf pro dropped dead in the middle of my lesson!"

I don’t know where to put this, but here seems like as good a place as any.

I’ve been reading the Cormac McCarthy Border Trilogy on my subway commute lately. Last night on the way home I was reading “All the Pretty Horses” and it was a scene where they returned to a tiny, backwater Mexican town and there was a mariachi band performing under a shade tree.

I didn’t have my Air Pods in and I heard an acoustic guitar on the other end of the car, and finally started paying attention. It was two dudes playing dueling acoustical guitar in a very Mexican-folk vein. And they were dressed up in the slick mariachi outfits. I stopped reading for a bit to watch them and then flipped them a fiver when they passed.

Was a strange coincidence that just felt kind of good. The subway gets a LOT of negative press these days, but I love it when things like this happen.

Not bragging on myself but this morning did make me feel like I still have purpose in life! Went on Facebook to see where my favorite Mexican food truck was going to be today, what I found was a post about stuff happening. Seems she had a short in the trailer, with an urgent request for electrical help! Cleaned up and drove over, between her husband and I we got her back on the road albeit a couple hours late!! Good news I get some free Mexican this afternoon, even better I have some new friends!
