2019 IU Baseball

Perfect Game listed Gorski as a 2nd Team Pre-Season AA. They always listed Lloyd 3rd team AA UTL player. Gorski had 10 more steals than anyone else on the top 3 teams.

This team will be LOADED with talent and experience. We even have a couple of unknowns who could be big time players for us (Gordon and Bridge). Two guys that came on as SO (Beauchamp and Saalfrank) ... do they continue to progress? If so, that rotation will be nasty with Milto, Krueger, Sommer, Lloyd, Sloan, Manous, and Gordon. What am I saying is.. can they be dominate starters? Give you 6 or 7 innings every time they go out there? I think Sommer and Manous will start the mid-week games during different times throughout the year, could be wrong there though.

The position players will be in a big time competition for a roster spot, let alone playing time. Dunham raked all summer long and played well early for us. I think he's the RF, Kaletha in CF, and Gorski in LF. Fineman is catching, Bradley the DH... outside of that.... 3B, 2B, and SS are all up for grabs. If Carter Bridge wins the RF spot, could go him there... Bradley 1B or Dunham the other as the DH and Lloyd at 2B. Either way... there are 2 infield positions available at least. EDIT- They had Dunham listed as an INF in the fall. I guess he could play first, Lloyd 3B, and Bradley DH lol so many possibilities with those three.

Those 2 or 3 positions will be made up of Barr, Ashley, Houston, Walker, and maybe Cade Bunnell.

Not knowing anything about Bridge... my ideal lineup would be

Kaletha CF

Lloyd 1B

Gorski LF

Fineman C

Bradley DH

Dunham RF

Ashley 2B

Walker SS

Barr 3B

Crail and Bridge your first bats off the bench. Maybe Houston improves his stick.. idk. We have a lot of depth though.

I'm looking into going to multiple away venues this year. My schedule is kind of odd, but possibilities being Tennesse Feb 23rd, Michigan St April 20th, Illinois May 4th. Maybe Memphis in mid-feb since I'm off that Monday.

I went to OSU last year and really enjoyed it. Tennessee has a beautiful stadium.. and it appears MSU's is nice as well.

Hello btqb, when you get a chance, visit Haymarket Park in Lincoln, NE (best facility in the B10) and take a long weekeend the end of May and go to the B10 Baseball Tourney at TD AmeriTrade Park in Omaha, NE.

U/Tennessee (visited a couple of times while on Vacation in East TN) is a  great venue and OSU is nice as well.  Safe travels and enjoy your trips.

Go Hoosiers!

Not sure if I'll ever be able to get out to NE for a weekend. OSU sold beer which was absolutely fantastic, as well lol

I hate that the conference tourneys are always Memorial Day weekend. I have really fallen in love with college baseball (and I'm not even a baseball fan). The college game is sooo much better than the pro game is unreal.

Gorski with another 2nd team AA honor from D1 Baseball. No way he slides out of the top 2 rounds in June. Can play all three outfield positions at the next level or 1st base if needed. Can lead off or hit anywhere in the lineup. Those scouts have to love the 8hrs along with the 24 steals last year. He was 24/27 stealing and absolutely got screwed on one at UL.

Some notes. 12-8 start. solid 5 of our 8 losses are "good" losses with only one "bad" loss of the 8.

39th overall in RPI right now.

Grant Richardson is absolutely on fire and someone you simply cannot take out of the lineup for the time being. 10 RBIs in 6 games started, 2HRs, OBP of .427.

Gorski has been very good all year, as has Barr. Fineman, Lloyd, and Ashley have all been well above average... and while Houston is batting a .190.. his OBP is .310 so that has helped.

Moving forward... Gorski will be in CF or RF, Ashley 2B, Lloyd 1B, Fineman C, Barr 3B, Houston SS..... then I think Dunham will win the DH role. Richardson, Kaletha, and Crail for the final two outfield spots. I think it'll be Kaletha in CF (power numbers solid, avg is awful) and Richardson in LF. Van Pelt might factor in there as well.

When Cross is catching I think Fineman will be the DH. He's been on fire recently.

17-10 as of now (5-1) in the conference. Played poorly against Kent St and it cost us.

RPI is solid at 35 with wins over #13 UCONN, #36 ISU, #45 Washington, and a 3 game sweep of #51 Iowa.

Still have series against (4 game #52 Eville), (3 game #52 Minnesota), (3 game #16 UI), and (3 game #70 UM)

2 gamers with #105 Ball St

1 gamers with #64 UK, #19 UL, and #90 Wright St

These rankings are all the RPI numbers of these teams because in baseball RPI is king.

Offensively our numbers are flat out silly right now. We lead the country in HRs. Richardson, Bradley, and Lloyd are knocking the cover off of it. Gorski, Dunham, Fineman (injured right now), Barr, and Ashley are swinging it well, as well... and Houston has been fine in the 9hole.

When Kaletha gets healthy (day to day right now) I am honestly not sure what they do lineup wise. You can't take Richardson or Dunham out of the lineup. So, Bradley or Kaletha for the final spot (maybe a righty vs. lefty type thing). Van Pelt has been solid, as well.

This team is CRAZY deep.

Pitching wise... Gordon has been phenomenal for 3 straight weekends, Saalfrank is coming on. I'm ready for 4 game home stand this week.
