Once Vic is back, are the Pacers the deepest team in the NBA?

P's obviously lack a true superstar, but they are incredibly deep with quality talent and Vic is (assuming he regains prior form) an awesome closer. I think the P's can be a real force in the East but I don't see any team from the East having enough to beat LA (intentionally ambiguous) in the Finals.

Yeah P’s with a healthy Vic are solidly deep and should compete in EC.

On West, Lakers’ schedule, almost certainly deliberately by the NBA for money purposes, has been ridiculously easy, maybe the easiest schedule in the League. They’ve had I guess 3 tough games so far, Clippers, Toronto and Utah, and lost 2 of those — that they have just 2 losses is misleading, context is pathetically easy schedule.

Other side to this is how long, over the season, can LBJ play this kind of extended minutes and will AD stay healthy? They’re solid after those guys but not deep.

Clippers with Kawhi and PG have still barely practiced together, still working out their O and sets, would expect them to gradually get better and better and they are much deeper than the Lakers. Denver is getting there, and the Rockets are a weirdly dangerous team, Harden’s 60-point game in 3 quarters is impressive, I don’t care for his style but he’s probably the best offensive player in the game.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but Vic is clearly Thingamajig on Masked Singer. Tonight he beat a member of Destiny's Child in a sing off. His singing has improved a lot since Hoosier Hysteria!

Discussed at length and unmasked in the Animal House.

Geez the Bucks exposed the Clippers tonight, who had a full complement of players.  Giannis looks like he’s on track  for a second straight MVP with no end in sight, although Doncic has also been spectacular albeit without the same level of team results.

After the 20-3 Bucks— the class of the East and maybe the league—it’s fascinating to see the cluster of similar teams when you look at Philly, Boston, Miami and especially Toronto who’s probably the second best team in the East in the end.   Nick Nurse is obviously terrific and those guys play smart, gritty ball that wins at a high frequency.  You couldn’t ask for a better spot for OG other than having to live in a foreign country.  Toronto is a nice city, but I’d be annoyed not living in the US.

There are a lot of teams bunched there who seem interchangeable  but any of them beating the Bucks in a series is hard to envision.

LeBron v Giannis in June could be interesting.

The Clippers have had PG and Kawhi practice together like 2 or 3 times. That’s it. Picking the Bucks now?? Not buying. The West will likely come down to Clips or Lakers (who’ve only in the last couple of games beaten some good teams — and btw they lost straight up to DALLAS who the Clips manhandled). Picking the Bucks as best team in the East? Too early. Boston is better, Toronto May be better, and look closely, the other top team on wins recently in the East? Pacers, and they don’t even have Vic back yet. Way early for those predictions imo

Kevin Love appears to be on the trading block. Dan Gilbert going out of his way to keep up with being the worst owner in all of pro sports. He's just lucky Lebron was born 35 miles away or that guy would surpass Snyder as the worst owner in sports.

Is it possible that Beilein gets fired?

It is. Rumors coming out several guys on the team are pushing back against his college style hold you accountable coaching — won’t work in NBA.

That said they’re in full rebuild mode and he’s just started so imo he has some leeway for the first year. He’s going to have to adapt though or he’ll be out

Maybe Garland will get them to hire Drewfus.  He's slick and a players coach.  Can't coach worth a lick either.  A perfect fit for the NBA.

Well the Pacers are struggling once again against some of the worst teams in the NBA.  The had a 94-82 lead with 10 minutes to go and now it is 98-97 with 6 minutes to go.  New York is the worst offensive team in the NBA and they scored 60 points in the first half.  They have already lost to Detroit 3 times, Cleveland once and Charlotte once so we can't lose to the Knicks.

Talk about the Beilein situation on NBA radio this morning. The host, Frank Isola, is all wrapped up in the fact that Cleveland is a losing team and doesn't win w/o LBJ so, in his view, there shouldn't be any such talk about Beilein from the players bc they haven't won anything and he has.

Completely misses the point. When NBA players, who are of course professionals earning millions, grown men who know the pro game, start looking past you as a coach to your assistants during games, and start talking about you (right or wrong) to people in the media, you are losing your team. Who cares what you've won as a coach in college, the NBA is a different game, with completely different player management/ego management/player relationship things to manage, and btw the game itself is different. If you lose the team, it just doesn't matter if they're good or not, that's besides the point. The point is not gee we haven't won maybe we should listed to the coach, the point is can you adapt, can you stick and get the players behind you? If you can't, you're done.

This kind of thing is what has soured me on the NBA the last 15 or so years.  I know it has always happened but now it is more prevalent and is out there for everyone to see.

Scott, anytime anyone says anything negative about the NBA it's something you don't like about the NBA! We get it, you like college ball and don't like the NBA.

As to this though, not sure what you mean.

It's a straightforward situation -- NBA players are professionals, highly paid athletes who know the game, and who the fans pay to see play, so they have much more power and say than a college kid does, who has basically no say.

The flipside to your way of looking at it here -- on campus, college coaches rule. So they get to do basically whatever they want, including leaving a school that just contracted with them, leaving recruits who committed to that school and coach screwed over, setting up 3 hour practices right before a game, embarrassing college kids in front of the other players in practice, and basically imposing a my way or the highway rule on the players.

On top of that, many college coaches are "system" coaches. Kids come into the program and the coach gets them to play his system -- and for that matter, recruits kids to do that.

Of course none of that flies in the NBA. These are grown men, best players in the world, and you can't sit them in a corner like you can a college kid. Either adapt and adjust, or you're gone. That really shouldn't be surprising, or necessarily a bad thing. You can be a great coach -- Beilein is -- doesn't mean you're right for the NBA. As to him, time will tell.
