Brogden to the Celtics

Kind of love that for the Celtics. He fills a lot of the Celtics around the edge weaknesses (ball handling, shooting, etc.), while also fitting into their culture of defense first, effort, IQ (even though the C's lacked it at times), etc.

Haven't seen what we've given up yet. But a pretty solid start if the Celtics add Gallinari, Brogden and Thomas Bryant (apparently deciding between the C's and Lakers) without giving up much.

Looks like Theis, Nesmith, Morgan, Stauskas, Fitts, and a first round pick next year. No way all those dudes stay on the Pacers imo. Some will get waived.

Yup, that is what Woj reported. So basically the Celtics get Brogden and the Pacers get a pick, a flier on Nesmith and some fodder for cap space or other trades.

Love what the Celtics are doing while basically giving up nothing. Boston still has their huge trade exception from the Fournier deal to use by 7/18.

I think it helps both sides honestly. Don’t think either fleeced the other.

Hopefully he plays more for you than he did the Pacers.

Agree. I didn't mean to imply the Celtics got one over on the Pacers whatsoever.

They're two franchises in different stages with different goals. Both got accomplished what they needed here.

Same! Good news is that he's more of a role player on the Celtics. He should he coming off the bench. So, less will be required.

Very good player for that second unit and will not have to be in a leader role. Best case scenario for Brogden

You will like him when he is on the court but should expect him to miss 25 games a year.  In the last two years he had missed games with 15 different injuries.

As an IU fan, you can't go labelling Juwan Morgan as 'fodder'.  Gotta find a nicer way to say it.

How about 'some guys that will compete for a roster spot'.  Sounds so much nicer.

That said, if it was a Purdue guy, by all means, use the word fodder.

Yeah, he's definitely injury prone. Good new is we got him without giving up Smart or Derrick White, so Brogden will have less stress or responsibility. Just need him healthy for April-June (hopefully)

What is the word on Nesmith, since he was the 14th pick.  Was he not good enough to break into the rotation or just blocked for minutes

Gobert to Minnesota for 5 players and 4 first round picks

Minnesota got hosed.  LOL  What a terrible trade by the T-Wolves and a brilliant one by the Jazz.

Not good enough. Hustles and plays solid D, but was billed as the best shooter in his draft but only shoots like 30% from 3.

I've said before I'm not the best NBA guy fan in the world but to me the Pacers got a pretty good haul here today as did the Celtics. Boston gets an added guy that might get them over the hump. Pacers have Haliburton, Duarte, Jackson, Smith, Maturin...along with I believe 3 2023 first round picks. Trade today cleared up $31M in cap that makes a move for Ayton a real one after they ship Turner? Who knows. Pacers might start trying again.

I hate these picks being protected, either trade the pick or don't.  I doubt that the Celtics will he picking that high.  Hope the Cavilers make the playoffs next year so there pick will be a first round pick.
