Hoosierdave
Anyone know when the deadline is for kids to declare a transfer? Pretty sure I saw somewhere on this forum saying exit meetings with players was this Tuesday.

I’m not aware of a deadline but I do seem to remember that sometimes names aren’t known until the semester is finished.

Didn't start following the Hoosiers hard until early 80's. What I found amazing about DH and others....is the number of players that Knight booted after obviously two of the greatest seasons a coach or program could ever have. Conflicting reports on DH. Did he leave because of the way Knight did things or otherwise? I saw he was a 3rd round pick in NBA draft in 81. Curious if he ever had regrets leaving. To be honest, he was a little (not a lot, but a little! 😬) before my time. I just know he ended up as our all time leading shot blocker.

The 81 Quincy team with BD and Payne still remains one of my favorite. Even as a Chicago born and Northern Illinois raised kid....we all knew how special those teams were. Oh, I knew Bruce and those teams all too well. That's why I said it was only a little before my time. I grew up in Danville and we had pretty good teams around that era though never made it too far in the tourney. I have a vague memory of a close game against Quincy where one of our big guy made the mistake of trying to score after getting a rebound of a missed FT. Payne stuffed his shot, got the ball, was fouled and that completely turned the game. I was becoming an Illini fan at that age as well, landing Bruce along with Winters, Altenberger, etc was a pretty huge deal for Lou's program. By chance did you know a high school coach that was with Ron Felling by the name of George Grubbs

Still has the single game assist record at Illinois. 2 minutes ago, Billingsley99 said: By chance did you know a high school coach that was with Ron Felling by the name of George Grubbs Sorry, nope. But that does remind me of another memory from those HS days. I remember being in the Danville Schlarman gym during their holiday tournament. Just a 4 team tournament, the 2 Danville teams plus Luther South and Lawrenceville. So on that court I watched both Marty Simmons and Doug Novsek (sp?) and Luther had a guy named Mike Conley. That was SR, not JR of course and he'd go on to be an Olympic gold medal winning triple jumper. I think LS had another kid who went on to play college ball and Danville had a couple as well. And one kid who signed with the Yankees for baseball.

Miday responded that jesus had long hair. Knight escorted Miday to Royer poll and said if he could walk across it he could keep his long hair. Wonder why he would recruit the kid, if his hair was an issue? Wouldn't that come up in the recruiting process? Or perhaps Bobby figured the kid would get in line once he was away from home. What an ass.

Out of the eyes, off the ears, and off the collar. You either got the cut or you didn't play.
