Thanks for the "intel" 13th.  Much appreciated.  Here's a brief story I found. Strangely no mention of IU :

I'm still waiting to see if his account was hacked but I'm guess we'd know that by now. Seems like an extremely odd transfer given he's a captain.

Paycheck is nice, but being a college basketball coach sounds awful!

It looked like Pikell had that program on a bit of an upswing (for Rutgers) heading into next season and then in the middle of the night in late May his best player up and transfers out of the blue!?!?

Yep all day and the timing really hurts...now Pikell has to scramble and find a replacement at this late day? Quick scan of Rutgers writers it seems he's likely a sit out transfer too meaning he'd rather transfer, sit out for a year and comeback. Just wow. Stuff like this is why you want 1-2 ships available every spring.

Actually he plays wit the kind of toughness that I would love to have at IU

6'7", 13 pts/7boards per game, tough as hell and not a horrible 3 point shooter (31%).  Wish he had more than 1 year of eligibility left or was available immediately, but I'd take him.  We've got 2019 scholarships to burn at this point, and there'd be worse ways to use them.

Has to be more to this story. Why would he sit out with only a year of eligibility? He could probably play professionally somewhere in the world.

Head scratcher for sure.  Something just ain't right.

Michael Herman.  Saw him get 10 assists one game as a freshman.  Hard to find anything on him now.  He was special, but not for Knight's system.

"Michael Herman, Westinghouse High School

The Chicago native was known to consistently drop 40s and 50s on college and NBA guys who would play in the Pro-Am at LeClair Courts and Malcolm X College while he was still in high school at Westinghouse. After graduation, Herman played one year for Bobby Knight at Indiana, but things didn’t quite work out beyond that. Still, in mid- to late-'90s, Herman wore the crown as Chicago’s best baller."

Seems like it is spelled Michael Hermon. Looks like he went to multiple schools: A talented guard out of Chicago, he caused a mild uproar in the Windy City when he changed high schools twice before his senior year, going from Hales Franciscan to Westinghouse and then to Martin Luther King

This SI article seems to chronicle him fairly well (at the time)

Wonder what happened to Herman. I googled him and his name frequently came up as one of the all-time Chicago playground greats. Does not seem as though he went to another college. Hope, for his sake, that he did not go down the rabbit hole like many other playground legends (drugs curtailed a number of them).
