rico
I thought I would start a new thread about the "Mickey Mouse" organization as I came across this..... https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/heres-two-more-times-the-ncaa-is-failing-to-rule-sensibly-on-players-academic-issues/
Mac
I would say that the whole thing couldn't get any goofier, but I'm afraid it probably could.
bstall76
Read about both of those yesterday. Nothing the NCAA does anymore surprises me.

slojoe
Didn't an IU Basketball player have the double major problem last year like the Oakland player? As I recall that came out all right. "If the NCAA's mad at UNC, look out Oakland and Colorado!"
BobSaccamanno
I don’t think it’s just dysfunction. I really think it’s corrupt and has lost its moral compass and the proper mission. The leadership wouldn’t know or understand the real world if it slapped them on the face. Get rid of the ivory tower, academic types and get some practical, problem solvers in there. It’s plain as day that it’s needed.

I have wondered after the North Carolina fiasco, if those guys didn't get "kickbacks" from UNC.

5fouls
If i am the Oakland kid I find me an attorney willing to do pro bono work and I sue the butt off the NCAA. On the heels of UNC a large and public lawsuit could brring them down.
Beowulf50
Ok there needs to be some major changes within the NCAA! This has got to be THE biggest joke in sports! I'm stopping here before I go on a very explicit rant!

I wonder what college athletics were like before the NCAA even existed? Not being "snarky" just asking questions, because "Houston, we have a problem.". rico
Well this is the way I see it and echo Bob's comments above. The organization needs complete re-structuring. From the top to the bottom. They all need to go. But this is starting to get ridiculous. They are a joke.

I just want the person in charge of it to be respectful of all colleges and universities! The same rule of law for all! You do wrong you get hammered! If you are a big money maker or not so much it should not matter! You do wrong you pay the price! Hopefully someone will step up and have the sack to make this happen! That's just my opinion and my hope for the game that I think about twelve months out of the year.

FKIM01
I need to quit reading about the NCAA because the more I read the madder I get. If I had my way, UNC would be an NAIA school.
Guest
I have listened to Mark Packer on SiriusXM quite a bit. He thinks that eventually the 5 major conferences will separate themselves from the NCAA- thus, not under their jurisdiction. I think that the power 5 has the leverage to make some changes to the structure of college athletics

Indykev
They should have just had the kid write a paper on a subject of his choice, gave him an A and moved on without the NCAA. Oh and let one student do the same.

The NCAA would be powerless if nobody was a member. And you must keep in mind the outcry is already there for change.
