Best videos I could find here of Kaufman.  I think he might end up being the #2 ranked player in the state before its over.  Anyone else agree with the Jared Jeffries comparison?

Defensively, he isn't JJ yet.  And that is yet.

He showed zero perimeter game during the season. Ball handling or shooting.

He shot 40% from three as a sophomore.  When I watched him live at AAU in Indy in April he looked very competent off the bounce to me.  We must have just seen different snapshots of his ability.  To my eye he is way more Jeffries than Newton.

Not bothered by contact, willing passer (especially effective out of the post, but passes well in the high-low too), runs the floor and shows well, nice hands and scores from all three levels.

His outside shot doesn't have a quick release, but if you leave him alone, he's shown he can definitely hit from behind the arc.  Didn't see elite athleticism and other than a couple of blocks in the highlight reel, I know very little about his defense...but Archie can teach defense.  Considering what coach Galloway said about him, I suspect he'd be very good in the pack-line once he got the hang of it.

...and I like that he's not rail-thin as a soph...mature body for his age.  I'd absolutely take him.  Doubt he'd be a flashy player, but I think he'd be very effective at the college level.  Not a player I'd want to face as a junior or senior.

In the game I coached against him, the other 7 games I watched him live, and the 4 games I have film on him I dont think I saw him take 10 total 3s. He can dribble against kids he much more athletically gifted than yes, JJ was 6'10 with PG skills.. Trey is not that.

He shot 42 3's on the season, not an insignificant sample.  He is playing against much better competition in AAU and the one thing I consistently hear and see is versatility, inside/out game.  Not looking to argue here, but we are just seeing and hearing different things.  Part of that is probably that he is just a very young guy that is still developing.

I won't be surprised if he gets an IU offer very soon.

In 2 seasons at IU, Jefferies shot 45% from the field.  14 points 7 rebounds per game.

Listed at 6' 11" with the usual "shoes or no shoes" disclaimer.

Dropped 24 and 15 to help beat Duke.

I forgot he was recruited by Knight, but never played for him.

He for sure has a face up game. But he isn't any sort of primary ball handler.

I'm a huge Trey Kaufman fan. Huge.

I have said for months it time for CAM to push all the chips in on Trey.

Those that know him only speak incredibly high of him, his character, and work ethic.  As of late winter,  Dr said he wasn't done growing yet either.

I’m big fan of the kid hope he is Hoosier! Not sure if he grew up and IU fan or not?

The family as a whole grew up hard IU.  Uncle went to Indiana st and mom did in fact stay on the sunny side at IUS.  I'm not 100% if IU's lack of consistent success has hurt the fandom over the last 20 years, as I've been away from the Burg my entire adult life.  If I hear otherwise I'll pass it along.
