I feel like with 13 schollies there ought to be a spot for Goode.  He's got length and is a lights out shooter.  He's not a slasher, and I get that.  But you look at a kid like Ryan McMahon at Louisville, and, if I were scouting him, I'd refer him to Wabash or Rose Hulman.  Yet he is a key player on the number one team.  As a shooter, and with 13 spots, I think you find one for Goode.

From what I’ve heard Goode feels like there is to much similarity in the way he and Leal play. Maybe the IU staff feels the same way but theirs still time for either side or both sides to change their mind. At least the two sides have been in contact with each other.

My ole ball coach used to say...I don't care how tall you are, how much you weigh, how fast you are...if you understand the game and know how to play it...there is a spot for you on my team.

Coach was about b-ball IQ.

I agree with that. Especially ones that can shoot. Lord knows I could have used one or two of those tonight lol.

I agree...but I doubt he had to figure out how to defend 6-10 and 7-0. We only have so many spots for 6-5 wings. I look at Armaan last night and thank god he has versatility to his game because no way we win without his contribution in handling the ball and defending which allowed Green to play off the ball and do his thing and stay rested. Both Armaan and Al bringing it up and playing point for Rob sacrificed a lot so Green was fresh and had the ball in a position to score. Now I don’t know much about Goode outside his shooting but if he can’t give us that and someone like Wesley can...I’ll take Wesley even if he isn’t as strong at one single thing like Goode. I hope I’m not sounding like I am hating on Goode because he is talented but the way we run our offense we benefit more from guys that can play multiple positions and comfortable with the ball in their hands making plays.

I think thats Archies feeling as well. I dont see him recruiting a "specialist " .  His kids will be multi positional that play both ends of the floor.

Goode had 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists in a win vs Warsaw.

And then underwhelmed Saturday night in a 62-47 loss against Marion.  13 pts. on 3-8 FG and  4 reb. He fouled out midway thru the 4th Q.

Not an indictment against recruitng him merely pointing out that he's not putting up 21 and 9 numbers every game.

Didn't see that, only that they had lost. Any idea how many Blackmon had that game?

31 pts.  5-9 on 3s.  I've watched Marion play a lot of games over the past several years and the Homestead game was the best team defensive effort I think I've seen from them.

This is a kid that IU should be recruiting hard.  My question is this...Where ARE all the great Indiana high school basketball shooters??  Who are they?

Their here they just dont have a lofty ranking beside their name...i been watching a kid named Hutchinson...looks like the kid can play

This link will take you to the stat leaders who's teams have reported their stats. You can click on different categories like 3 pt% to sort the leaders. I'm lucky enough to coach one of the kids in the top 10. Believe me their are plenty of shooters coaches just have to open their eyes and not get tunnel vision which happens a lot.

After watching the current IU team flounder without shooters, it seems doubly odd that we aren’t making Goode a priority.  He’s got length and can shoot the basketball.  I can see liking Wesley but why not pursue both?   They bring different things to the table.

I also don’t think Goode needs to worry about Leal and Galloway.  Goode brings a different element.  Out of all these guys, he may play the fastest.

When you start losing confidence in the priorities of the staff (poor with the 3 on both ends), recruiting gaffes get more magnified, especially when in real time (without hindsight) the fans know better.

But Goode is worried about Leal and that is the problem. He sees a logjam of wings whether they can shoot or not that's still a lot of guys competing for playing time.

And that is what recruiting comes down to today in college b-ball.  Sad, but true.

Absolutely right. I think Goode should be offered. If Louisville thinks he’s good enough, why don’t we? Sounds like with family ties, we’d be tough to beat here.

I hate to type this, but an Indiana offer isn’t nearly as sexy as we want it to be. Butler gets good players and are ranked consistently. Just baffles me at times why we wait or just don’t pursue some players.
