Grill season

Sure.  It makes enough to do a rack of ribs with some leftover but can easily be doubled or more.  I rub whatever I'm doing the night before and wrap in saran wrap and refrigerate.

Gracias...will try it soon

I guess this is the proper thread to talk about sauces as well... I've never tried making homemade BBQ sauce. Always used bottled. Here are a few favorites...

The go-to

I've eaten at Corky's original restaurant in Memphis, and although I think the meat at The Rendezvous is better, Corky's sauce is the best. I mix the regular and the hot about 50/50. They run online sales sometimes. Had a case (12 bottles, mix and match) for $20 and free shipping not long ago. My pantry looks like a Corky's retail store.

This mustard based sauce is from Maurice Bessinger's "Piggy Park" restaurant in Charleston, SC. Different, but I like it for a change with pork.

Big Bob Gibson's (no, not THAT Bob Gibson's) in Decatur, AL has a very different white BBQ sauce. I don't like painting this one on, but rather for dipping. Especially chicken.

I like trying new sauces. Anybody have a favorite to share?

Alabama white sauce is both good and ridiculously easy to make. Mayo, apple cider vinegar, black pepper. That's it.

Delicious even just on sandwiches.

You've got it.  Was just looking at some recipes this weekend.  Want it a little more zesty ?  Just add some horseradish.

Here's just one recipe I found this weekend :

Zesty Alabama White Sauce

Haven't put together a batch in awhile, but these sauce recipes remind me I need to! Start with ketchup, 1 cup,  add horseradish until you just barely taste it, 3-5 tbsp.,  add lemon juice until you just  barely taste it, 5tbsp, or it no longer tastes like ketchup. Now that you have the proper Tang add either honey or agave to taste, approximately 3Tbsp. Adding  red pepper or my go to, chipotle pepper works if you want something spicier.

I see that fresh Copper River salmon is now available.  A short availability time. And much pricier than any other salmon. You will know it when you see it. Deep, deep red.

Worth every penny. Should try it once at least.

On my way to the store to get my annual treat.

Stopped by Costco (my kids say I'm a Costcoholic...if the shoe fits...), and found this...

It'll be on a cedar plank this evening...

^^^ BBQ. With the many grills. Who would have thunk it.

These are just the ones I’ve been working on. I may have an issue...

I’m moving all of them to a new area next weekend so I’ll get a group picture then.

I was pretty happy with it. It’s a 2009 2 burner.

I’m waiting on a new starter and grates and it should be good to go.

I’ve never had a gas grill so it will be interesting.

For free, you got a pretty decent one. Didn't know that the 2 burners came with a 2 door cabinet.

Parts are abundant and halfway reasonable for that era.

Sounds great. I have two grills on my back patio. And a dedicated grilling area on the South Side of my house. Where I do my smoking, and charcoal grilling. Several grills and smokers there.   One funny story. From years ago. Once when I started my smoker up a 6 in the morning.  A guy came running up. All excited that my house was on fire.  And another. My neighbor to the South of me. When she first moved in. And I started up one of my smokers..... actually called the fire department.  Thinking my house was on fire.  That was a day I will never forget.

BBQ.  Great grilling. You are a man of my choice.  Love it.  Can't wait to see a picture of your new grilling area.

I will say, when we are out in the engine and see smoke rolling from near a residence, we all sit up real high to determine the source.  I had a dream recently that we were returning to the house from a run and the vacant house next door to the firehouse had flames shooting out the window, 911 had yet to be called.  Those are a firefighters dream.

Your story reminds me, a few years ago I set my smoker up in the yard to get some ribs going. I had it a reasonable distance from my house and deck.  When everything was just right the wife and I decided to go for a run. About 20 mins later, about a mile away from home, a firetruck lights up and is going in the direction of my house.  I have never cleared a mile so fast in my life. She was already lagging behind but I left her so far behind I had to go pick her up in the truck.  Amazing what adrenaline does.  Everything was fine and firetruck was responding to an accident.

First and only time I will ever do that.

You may have shared in the past. However, I was not aware you are a firefighter.  A mile high salute to you. Sir.

Mind another story. Inspired by you once again?  When my son was a teenager. And he left a friend of his late at night. But with two others in his car, that he was going to take them home.  Came past a house that was on fire.  They all jumped into action. My son told the male friend to   get the house hose and start putting the fire out. He told he girl , to get on her phone to call 911.

And my son broke the front door down to wake the family of five up. Who had no idea their house was on fire.  Escorted the family out side. While the fire was getting extinguished.  By the time the fire department arrived. And it was quick. The fire was put out.

And when the fire fighters got there. Which did not take long. One of the fire fighters told them...." Next time, leave something for us to do."  LOL

A few weeks later, the fire department honored my son with a life saving ceremony and certificate.

Great story. And thanks for sharing.  Griller/Smokers have great passion.  I have grilled in all kinds of weather.  Rain. Snow. Sleet. And Hail.  And have loved every minute of it.

Love it. That is awesome but we definitely don't recommend it because as soon as that thick black hot smoke hits your lungs your goner

Picked up my first sweet corn of the season today in Indy. Southern Indiana grown. Fresh tomato too. Going to do a few normal corn (boiling salted water for 8 minutes) but going to throw some on the grill as well. Food wise this is Christmas morning for me. Love sweet corn and love tomato season too.

Love it.  Just in case you missed it. Here's a thread on Corn on the Cob, I started back in April. Many great ideas here :
