OT: tornados in Indiana and Ohio

Recommended Posts

I hope if anyone on this board was effected by the tornados yesterday you and your family is doing well.  Yesterday evening after we had a cookout my daughter and her boy friend was headed up to Anderson and when they got to Pendleton they saw a funnel cloud behind them and luckily was able to get home with no problems.  it seems like the town of Pendleton was damaged quit severely and hope everyone in that community can clean up.

Thanks for starting this thread, Scott. As I have been concerned about my fellow Hoosiers.  Heard early this morning, that a tornado touched down on the Indiana/Illinois border on Monday. And heard about the one in Pendleton.

As for us forgotten folks here in Colorado.  We have faced three consecutive days of tornadoes.  All in the plains just East of Denver. Good thing about that is most of that area is flat land.  Sparsely populated.  However, our phones and tv's  have been  going off for three days now,  with tornado warnings.

Take cover Hoosiers.  Looks like more is coming your way, based on our local weather reports.  And the Weather Channel, this morning showed Indiana, and Indianapolis as a warning area for Wednesday.

Very good friend in Pendleton had their car (parked outside) destroyed but luckily house wasn't. Many weren't so lucky. Power out, I think weather folks said F2 officially. Tons of destruction but as most do in times like this seems like area is pulling together.

I'm on North Side of Indy and you can see it building up again as I type. Rest of today and tomorrow don't good at all. We've been fortunate with temps but I must admit I feel like it's rained at least once every day for weeks.

We've had hail in Denver for the past several days.  Last night at 1:20 a.m. it was so loud, my German Shepard woke me up to let know.  Being the gardener I am.  I have held off planting everything that I normally have in the ground by this time.  Neighbor's who plant by the Mother's Day rule, have lost flowers and vegetables. And will have to start over. This afternoon, the news showed more hail coming down in Downtown Denver.  And more is predicted for tonight.  This does not compare to the destruction in the Midwest, and Oklahoma in the past several days.  Planting late pales in comparison.

Stay safe Hoosiers !

Golf ball sized hail not far from where I am working just 30 minutes ago.

Yeesh.  Take cover.  Hail that size will do damage.  Several years ago, we had golf ball hail hit our brand new car. It was not even one week old. But since the car was so new, the insurance company did not replace the car.  The entire car was re-skinned..  Hood, trunk, doors, wind shield and gold moon roof.  Saw the bill. Came very close to what we paid for the car.

We talked about it in the Animal House, but ran in to a friend last week and as we talked, I asked about another friend and she said they had lost everything in the tornado that hit Thomaston Georgia earlier this year! They lost their house, their car everything, everything! Having experienced an F2 within 100 yards of my house, I pray for everyone!

Tornado touched down not far from where we live. We also experienced the golf ball sized hail and dealt with a power outage for 8 hours...good times on Monday 🙄🙄

Glad you are all okay! Our friends garage with their 3 vehicles were demolished Monday along with part of their siding, the kids play area and the woods directly around their home. The brick house next to them was leveled 😢 Thankfully no one was hurt!

It has been a rough few days for me and my family.  Everyone is safe, but there is a casuality....pine tree in my front yard succumbed to the wind.

Be safe and glad to hear it's only the 1. Tough times for plenty.

2 Thursday's ago when the storms first hit North of Indy my aunt lost 4 trees that were probably planted in the 50's. Worst part was the trees landed and destroyed 3 big size barns/sheds on her property that housed her retirement as she calls it. Not just for selling purposes....but Years of collectibles, family things/photos....pretty much all gone or destroyed. Tough few weeks for plenty.

TY and sorry to hear about your Aunt.  It is "swelling" up here as I type.  I am thinking about building an ark.

It's just been rough for plenty. Hopefully no more impact to you..but based on today forecast I'm not feeling good again. The silver lining is that if we can dodge this next round it appears that we get some much needed relief coming. Might actually go a whole 4-5 days without threat of strong storms.

My neighborhood was hit hard. This pics are right outside my door. We lost some windows, siding, our soffits, air conditioner , and the littles ones swingset wound up in the neighbors house. We are safe. Had 1 fatality and 40 or so others injured. Spent Monday night and early Tuesday morning helping did people out of their basements. Then cleaned up my yard yesterday. We were very lucky. 75 yards away was the main path and the houses are destroyed. I’m in Celina Ohio. Nice to see the community come together. All this rain now is not helping.  Having my generator going nonstop.

Thoughts go with you guys. It's hard to remember during these times it's just stuff. Stuff can be replaced. It's the fatalities that can't. Tough times indeed.
