Thoughts from a long-time reader and first time poster.....I'm from the northeast (NYC) and have a daughter at IU.  I also lived minutes from Long Island Lutheran for 20 years so I have some perspective on both St.  Johns and LuHi.  This kid mentioned that the feeling he gets when he steps on the campus is important to him and he wants to feel like "I could be here".  Let me tell you something - nobody feels that way about St. Johns.  It's a commuter school in Queens, NY and its not much to look at.  Long Island Lutheran, on the other hand, is a beautiful campus in a special setting.  I love the feeling I get every time I step on the IU campus and/or walk up Kirkwood towards campus.  It's a special place and it feels like college.  If this kid really cares about that, I feel like he'll have that feeling the second he visits.  He might end up at St Johns because of its proximity to NYC, because of his Puerto Rican heritage and the strong Puerto Rican community in the area but if he's looking for more of a "college" experience in a special setting (like his HS), Archie might have a real good chance of landing him.  I think a visit would be a huge influencer here.

Welcome to posting. You seem intelligent, so please post more often. We need somebody to offset 5fouls and zline.   :)

Hmm I'd choose Miami and Oregon if I am choosing football, Saint Johns if I'm staying close to home, why would anyone choose Illinois is beyond me.  For Basketball, IU over the other 4 all day every day no questions asked

I predict Miami. He is from Puerto Rico. The culture and Hispanic flavor in the neighborhood and distance to Puerto Rico along with how they play I think he ends up there.

Someone mentioned not long ago that Illinois had 50-some offers outstanding for the 2020 class and thus far, nothing to show for it with over half the kids already choosing a school or ruling Illinois out.

That would be depressing.

Picturing Coach Underwood's recruiting strategy...

I believe they got a commit today - a 3 star, unranked kid. IMO, their recruiting has been quite underwhelming.

Received one over the weekend from a kid who had offers from Rutgers and hometown San Diego St. The one they want is Adam Miller to fill Ayo's role when he leaves after this year. Mac Irvin kid. He'll probably say yes to them in time but nothing to worry. Just the Mac Irvin guys leaving crumbs just to make sure the door is open. The big talents from them and area aren't headed to Illinois anytime soon.

I was talking to my Uncle who is a big U OF I fan and he said they actually had some decent commits that were foreign kids who NCAA ruled ineligible for grades and had to go to prep school and they would’ve been top 100 kids I believe? 🤷🏻‍♂️ #oops

Looking at the final list, I have to think this one is a longshot. Miami has the culture and isn't afraid to get dirty, St. John's is home, Oregon has Nike money if they want him, and Illinois apparently has a former teammate of his father's on their staff.

Quick question, who isn't dirty?  Why single out Miami?

Sure was, would be enough to scare me a little or cause me to rethink but then I think of Trendon and LSU.  I am more worried about St Johns.

I don’t think a majority of kids worry about that. Worst case scenario they get granted a transfer. They are going to do what is in their best interest and ignore the outside narrative. Also we are talking about a kid from Puerto Rico. It’s not like he is going to be scared of a little corruption.
