Georgia is only down 4 with around 6min to go.

Anthony Edwards can make a coach look pretty darn good...but it only obscures the same old problems with Crean....

Down four with less than three to go, out of a timeout, contested step back three from Edwards off of no passes....two possession game, Crean switches to a passive 2/3 that his team has clearly never practiced, Winston holds the ball for thirty seconds and then calmly lobs the ball behind the zone for an easy basket....Georgia gave up thirteen points in the final two minutes of the game while trying to complete and epic comeback....

Final MSU 93 Georgia 85

Pretty typical of a Crean team where they can get hot offensively and look good but can't stop anyone.  You should win almost every game that you score 85 points but his teams defense is just to bad.

definitely...I think that it became clear over the years that Crean doesn't teach defensive rules or principles, he just produces defensive game plans (some of them good ones).

He'll guard the ball screen differently depending on the player with the ball or the player screening, he'll bring help from different places depending on the team, sometimes he'll determine that they won't help at all, or not help off of guards or off of bigs...While those ideas can be good they are useless without a baseline system...the team is never on the same page defensively for long enough to string together enough stops or enough games to really have a defense to rely on...

But did they switch between man to man and zone during the possession? That would have been really cool, especially with some playing zone while others were still man to man

That is the problem of getting a player like Edwards who is your typical one and done player who is out for themselves.  You can't get on him or make an example of him for those bad shots because he will likely not listen you.  if you do make an example of him and bench him then the fans and media will rip you for not having your best player out there.

Some of these losses by conference teams may come back to bite us come tournament time when SOS evaluations help determine eligibility and seeding

Sometimes I think the 9-12 seeds are far better than the 8-9 seeds! That being said I'm expecting much better than an 8!!😀
