After those 2 losses I was wondering if the Vol HC was gonna make it through the season.

I heard that kind of talk from some VERY frustrated Vols fans.  All of them were pretty rational and patient,  so I was happy for them their season turned around. Can't wait for the day they beat Bama. Hope I'm still alive to see it!

Stings having to write/say that, doesn't it?

Absolutely. It makes it even worse when I have to go over to.the basketball board and see people complaining about our coach when we just WON A GAME and are 10-1. Good teams when games when they dont play well. We did that twice this week.

Back to football lol

What I can promise them is that this is the best offense they’ve faced since Alabama.

Other than Alabama, Tennessee has faced some really bad offenses this season.

2.  Alabama

37.  Florida

42.  Georgia State

51.  Georgia

71.  BYU

75.  Mississippi State

86.  Kentucky

91.  Missouri

100.  UAB

104.  South Carolina

125.  Vanderbilt

At #41...Indiana would be the 3rd highest scoring offense (based on 2019 statistics) that UT will have faced this year...just ahead of  Georgia State.  For reference...Tennessee's offense is #97 in scoring offense for the year.

66.  Nebraska

88.  Purdue

94.  Ball State

114.  Maryland

123.  Rutgers

128.  UCONN

Using those numbers are meh.

What are the S&P rankings? Raw numbers do nothing for me.

Appreciate the info.  Actually pretty interesting,  although with the Big Ten playing one additional conference game, stats will always be slightly skewed against us.  Replace UAB or Chattanooga with an additional SEC West opponent, and stats would come down some most likely. Unless that SEC West opponent is Arkansas...

Here's the side by side of the defensive ratings.  The numbers are remarkably similar for most of it, except for 4 games in the middle.  Otherwise, the other 7 games are almost within 1 or 2 places each.

Tennessee / Indiana

2.  Georgia / 1. Ohio State

6.  Alabama / 8. Penn State

7.  Florida / 9. Michigan

18.  Missouri / 12. Michigan State

28.  UAB / 26.  Northwestern

29.  South Carolina / 61.  Nebraska

32.  Kentucky / 80.  Maryland

51.  BYU / 82.  Purdue

58.  Mississippi State / 86.  Rutgers

93.  Vanderbilt / 95.  Ball State

122.  Georgia St. / 124.  UCONN

Taking out the 4 mismatched games in the middle of the SP+ defensive comparison, here are the points each team scored against the comparable teams.  Points scored are in parenthesis.

As btown said, not a big fan of raw data either, but not going to get into more advanced things for each game listed.  Don't want to spend 2 hours on it.

Tennessee / Indiana

2.  Georgia (14) / 1. Ohio State (10)

6.  Alabama (13) / 8. Penn State (27)

7.  Florida (3) / 9. Michigan (14)

18.  Missouri (24) / 12. Michigan State  (31)

28.  UAB (30) / 26.  Northwestern (34)

29.  South Carolina (41) / 61.  Nebraska (38)

32.  Kentucky (17) / 80.  Maryland (34)

51.  BYU (16 in regulation, 29 after 2OT) / 82.  Purdue (31 in regulation, 44 after 2OT)

58.  Mississippi State (20) / 86.  Rutgers (35)

93.  Vanderbilt (28) / 95.  Ball State (34)

122.  Georgia St. (30) / 124.  UCONN (38)
