I've thought South Bend would factor into this equation at some point. I don't know the current gathering rules in Illinois but I know Indiana is allowing more so maybe that's the reason. I still haven't heard a thing on Wrigley. They refunded season ticket holders $. Some ideas have been floated at 20% capacity.

I've been to watch games at that stadium many times...it is weird to me that it is called four winds casino stadium now ha.

Cubs announced 60 day camp roster last night. Nothing real big except one name was missing. Brandon Morrow wasn't on invite list. Maybe I missed. Did he announce he was done for the year again? Probably got injured putting on his cleats last week.

If there is something out there about him, I missed it as well.

Ross was just on with reporters this afternoon. Pretty dead set on Bryant/Rizzo as 1-2 moving forward. Not sure what I think yet. Bryant's our best base runner and Rizzo certainly can situation hit if needed. Guess Baez will be 4....Contreras at 5? Trying to figure out who at 3.

How times have changed because those use to be your 3 and 4 hitters.  I know they base everything about getting on base but I want those two coming up with runners on base.

105-98 lifetime record and $16M per year. Good Lord why my Dad didn't push me more in baseball. Haha...

I wonder how many other pitchers in Leake's draft year have a hundred+ wins?

Maybe he has Baez hitting 3rd with Schwarber/Contreras 4/5? Probably not ideal but who knows.

I'd like to see the metrics on it, but Scott is right...speed is no longer a requisite and OBP reigns supreme at the top of the order.

In a perfect world we could put Happ leading off (I always have liked SHs leading off) and Heyward/Almora in the 2 slot, but I can see why Ross wouldn't...

Why do you offer these challenges that I have to look up.  Then, when I see the results, I get pissed.

To partially answer your question, Strasburg was in that draft.  Of course, he went #1, so he was off the board when the Reds picked up Leake at #8.

But, you know who wasn't off the board?  Mike Trout was the 25th pick in the first round of that draft.

And, to top it off, the Reds had two picks in the second round.  Snagged the immortal Bradley Boxberger at #43 and Sliding Billy Hamilton at #57.  You know who they could have picked instead?  Nolan Arenado went to the Rockies at #59.

How about Round 3?  Don Joseph or Will Myers.....hmmmm.  Let's go Joseph.

Not a Cubs fan so I really don't care about their lineup but this is how I would start their lineup.  The problem is that they pretty much has built their lineup with the same type Of hitters which is a big swing and miss guys with power.  The thing is if you have Bryant and Rizzo at the top of the lineup is that there is a good chance there won't be anyone on base when they get up.  Especially in the NL where the 8th and 9th place in the order are not very good hitters so it is a good chanced that your best hitters will come up with no one on base.

1) ?

2)?

3) Bryant

4) Rizzo

5) Baez

6) Schwarber

7) Contrasas

8)?

9) pitcher

Based on my unscientific perusal of the first 5 rounds, I would guess Strasburg is the only other pitcher in the 2009 draft with more than 100 wins.  Patrick Corbin was the next biggest name I saw and he has 70 wins.  I could have overlooked something, but I'll go with Strasburg being the only one.

The Reds lineup with Trout and Arenado would look much better LOL!

But it wasn't a trivia question!  I was just curious.  I couldn't have done it without.  You get Rico's "Atta Boy" for the day.

The thing to remember about Leake is that he went straight to the majors without ever pitching in the minor leagues.  He's the only player since the end of the 2000 season  to do that.

I guess with them having a DH this year it will help their lineup.
