TheWatShot
Every week, around 2 p.m., I always think "wow, this game is moving quickly, I can't believe it's almost halftime." Then halftime usually arrives around 2:30.

IU Scott
I would bet that the average yards per completion was a lot higher than it is today.
TheWatShot
What exactly are the Colts trying to do here? Is Chuck Pagano back on the sideline?

They didn't throw it as often, that's for sure...Most subscribed to the Lombardi theory, "only 3 things can happen when you throw the ball, and 2 of them are bad." If you look historically at yards per completion, the guys from the 40s and 50s dominate the top spots. The highest current QB is Patrick Mahomes at 55... But I also think Yards Gained After the Catch plays in here too...a lot of big plays today are short passes a guy breaks... And former Bears QB Virgil Carter had something to do with the genesis of the West Coast offense...Walsh was the OC for the Bengals under Paul Brown, when the #1 QB, Greg Cook (who I think would have been a star if not for injuring his throwing shoulder) went down...Carter's arm was so weak, Walsh implemented the little dink and dunk offense to fit his skills (or lack thereof)...
TheWatShot
A short pass on 3rd and 9 from the 17 tells me the Colts don't trust Wentz to throw to the end zone.
IU Scott
Colts recovered two fumbles inside their 30 and had to settle for two FG's
TheWatShot
How do you get penalized for a facemask during a fumble return when you're the one returning a fumble? That cost the Colts 17 yards.

Leathernecks
And there goes Montgomery for the Bears. Usually not a good sign when you're holding your knee in agony and the announcer says they won't show the replay because it's gruesome.

BGleas
Ugh, the Eagles defense is so bad! I realize they're playing Mahomes and the Chiefs, but the Chiefs haven't punted once all game. The Eagles are the most penalized team in the league so far and have two encroachment penalties on 3rd down by the same DE.
TheWatShot
The Colts needed 9 plays to go 19 yards and finally punch it in. Should be game, but of course the defense is suddenly allowing Jacoby Brissett to air it out like he's Peyton Manning.
Leathernecks
I absolutely hate how they don't call delay of game when the play clock hits 0. Lions snapped it close to 2 seconds late, and a Bears player had jumped offsides about a full second after the play clock hit 0. Dumbest rule ever. BGleas
Ugh, the Eagles just threw a 35ish yard TD pass to Devonta Smith and then the refs threw a flag and said he stepped out of bounds on his route. He was somewhat forced out but then took 3 steps back in bounds before catching the ball. What is the rule around reestablishing yourself inbounds? TheWatShot
Even with completions of 42 and 22 yards on that drive, Brissett is still averaging less than 10 yards per complete pass.
