I would hope that you all agree with me that IU's offense is best on the fast break. Which is why Coach Miller got upset when we were not pushing the ball at times against Minnesota.  IU is not good setting up the ball on O.  Key to a win against PSU for me, is to get back quickly on O, find the open man, or drive it all the way to the bucket.

Agreed, and this is where Rob is so important.  He drives with purpose and a sense of urgency.  He's either getting to the rack, or dishing when help comes.

Franklin shows glimpses of being able to do this, but it doesn't seem as natural, and hopefully develops with experience.

Devonte and Al usually look uncomfortable, especially against pressure,  and pound the ball until late in the shot clock. Devonte definitely appears to be thinking shot first,  which leads to missed or late passes to open teammates. Conversely, "hot" Devonte is solid with pull up 3's, and Al can have some really strong drives to the basket.

Let's hope our guys are learning to play to their strengths regarding the break,  and seeing the value to the team in doing so. Tomorrow is a great opportunity to make a statement.

Got to believe in your team mates. Just as the USA did against the Soviets 40 years ago, today. A win today won't clinch a birth in the NCAAT.  But just as the win over the Soviets, led the way to a gold medal in the Olympics.... a win today will be a big step towards getting there.

This is so true.  Gotta build the self AND group confidence.   All the parts are there for success with this team, just got stay confident through the numerous momentum shifts and moments of doubt.

A stat that probably means nothing but makes me feel hopeful about tomorrow and the rest of the season.

- Last two years, Archie has ended the season by winning 4 of his last 6 regular season games. The last 6 games for this year began with the last game @ Minnesota.

-- 2018 Last 6 included 3 road games where we were 2-1 and 1 game against a ranked opponent where we were 0-1 (home vs OSU in 2 point 2OT loss)

-- 2019 Last 6 included 2 road games where we were 1-1 and 4 games against ranked opponents where we were 2-2 (home vs #15 Purdue in 2 point loss, away vs #21 Iowa in 6 point OT loss, home vs #19 Wisco in 2 point 2OT win, and home vs #6 MSU in 1 point win)

Get that it might be hard to compare teams/schedules each year but especially with the schedule being tough to end last season, with a very up and down team as well, it makes me feel a little more hopeful about this stretch.

This PSU team has been winning on the road and against the better teams. It’s going to be a tough game. But Race’s return to health and increased playing time, along with Rob showing he can drive again, reflecting his health and confidence, Hunter’s steady return to form and confidence, and the minutes RE-allocation that comes with all of that, should include Davis too, has the team looking much more ready for the challenge.

Bring it

I like our chances.  Smith has proven he can give Stevens a tough time.  Penn State has never played us before where our fans are riled up.  Best fan base anywhere despite the weak, self loathing by some.
