And Chicago levels are the highest since May. As someone who was born and bred there I feel capable of saying this....this is one of those things that the powers at be there need to handle their own business first. Stop deflecting on the real issues at hand in their city....not just Covid-19.

I've only jumped in this thread a few times....but I do appreciate the information. I truly, truly am sorry for the 200k+ folks who have passed away. I really am. I've known 3 and lost another person I've known this afternoon to it as well. I still remain steadfast in my thought though. The jobs lost, businesses closed, family relationships destroyed because of no money, alcohol/drugs, suicides, etc.....will cause far more deaths now and in coming years than the actual virus.

Couldn't agree more. Typical to try and make things look worse elsewhere.

I now know of one person that has died. Was a distant relative. In his 80s. No idea what other health issues he may have had.

From the CDC- https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/pdfs/mm6936a5-H.pdf

Granted the sample size is small, so we'll have to see if further studies come out. Point to restaurants as worst places to go.

"The study offers insight into the reality that tens of thousands of Americans are acquiring COVID-19 on a daily basis despite overwhelming adherence to mask wearing. Masks simply aren’t working to “slow the spread” or “stop the spread.”

Americans are following the CDC guidance. It’s just not working."

Self-reported mask wearing is not super accurate - 85% mask wearing where? We don't even see that number in NYC.

Never heard of this guy, but this is what he leads with:

Quote

"The majority of the population of the United States has succumbed to a mass illusion of control. Through the failures of the “expert” class and the bureaucrats who run our government agencies on all levels, those of us who believe in evidence over hysteria seem to have found ourselves in a thought minority in modern day America.

Politicians and bureaucrats in the United States and abroad have weaponized the novel coronavirus crisis in an attempt to secure the biggest power grab in world history."

Telling people that masks don't work or that they are a tool to control people, does not seem super smart since we are already struggling, but I'm sure some people eat it up.

Donny Mac (I only call him that) has been my guy from the start.  He's the guy I often report back to the board about when I hear him on The Daily podcast. I've been following him since February and he's been right on a lot of stuff. If he's wrong he admits it and explains why he was, given the hindsight. I'm not surprised to see this article about vaccines because he was initially very skeptical about an effective one being created in less than year. Actually, in an interview last week he said that he's now hopeful 3 of the 10 vaccines in phase three will be successful. If that's the case, it will truly be a remarkable accomplishment by the scientific community.

I would think if they can they can work from home but have no idea if they can't

Another thing I though of is the casinos in Indiana.  A lot of Chicagoans go to those casinos.  Is the State of Illionois going to monitor their own residents that cross the border and return a few hours later?

It's a stupid move that is impossible to manage that someone came up with in hopes of looking like they are really doing something.

Seriously, there are thousands of people who work in Chicago that live in Indiana.  How's that going to work.

I actually have first hand knowledge of this. Way back when quarantine was really stringent and first started I live in a different state but work in Indiana. My employer gave me a certified notarized letter deeming me “essential” that I had to keep in my car at all times in case I was pulled over while entering or exiting the state.

I know it's likely neccassary,  but that just feels icky. Needing documentation to travel from state to state.

We are living in some weird times.
