Wonder if Notre Dame will be in contention..could be a possible Anderson/Wesley combo

I have no clue, but seems to me that if playing time was the primary reason for transferring, which has been the indication from Anderson, then going down a level (think MAC or Horizon League) is probably going to be the move here.

Will be interesting to see where he goes next... Didn’t look like like a major college player at IU.  Between Forrester and Anderson getting Creaned, Hunter’s injury, and Romeo leaving after one year, the 2017 class hasn’t produced nearly as much as I expected it to thus far.  Here’s hoping Hunter and Phinisee are able to salvage it over the next couple of years.

Are we thinking this spot gets filled with a 2020 grad transfer, or will it be left open for a 2021 recruit?

"Creaned" is when they're pushed out due to an over sign. There were two open scholarships this past season so Forrester certainly wasn't Creaned. There's no noise that Miller is about to land another recruit or transfer for next season. TDH posted that his sources say the staff tried to convince Anderson to stay. So it doesn't appear he was Creaned, either.

Transfers happen and they're not all getting Creaned. From the transfers that have happened under Miller, I'd say the only one that could really possibly considered a Creaning would be Gelon.

I'm guessing this scholarship will go unused next season.

Agree. In terms of numbers, the roster is in the perfect spot to bring in a true transfer who has to sit a year, or maybe even better have a kid reclass in the way Race Thompson did (reclass but come in and redshirt that first year).

Don’t know if Logan would do that but imo he would be a perfect kid to have that extra year in lifting program and getting specialized training. Obviously he wouldn’t get pushed and tested in high school on a regular basis as a year working against similar sized young men in college.

I wonder what role the pandemic may play in college basketball.  It's entirely possible that there will be no college basketball next season.  What about college classes?  What about HS classes?  All of this is uncertain and there are many possibilities.

Revisionist history.  IU fans claimed every player that transferred from 2012-2016 was “Creaned,” and plenty of those transfers had nothing to do with the oversign.  A player gets “Creaned” when he gets pushed out for not being good enough, or because he was recruited over, which is exactly what happened with Gelon, Forrester, and Anderson.  And I would expect TDH’s sources to say that about Anderson, but I don’t buy it.  Between his coach’s statement a little while back and his own statement that “I never thought I’d do this...” it’s pretty clear what happened.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s business as usual in college basketball.  Archie wouldn’t be doing his job if he wasn’t always looking to upgrade the talent on the roster, which is what leads to these transfers.

I know the Turdue forums love to pretend that IU forces players out but I haven't seen that under Miller at all, with the exception of Grant Gelon, a player the former coach took a flier on.  Even if Lander reclassifies to 2020, there was a scholarship for Damezi and it sounds like the staff encouraged him to stay.  I didn't like Crean using the oversign even though it mostly worked out.  The fact that Archie hasn't touched it should absolutely put the Creaning talk to bed, but you can bet the Turdue mouth-breathers on the free forum will continue to pretend it happens without any evidence to back them up.

I very much respect the way Archie has handled to roster and I think his players and recruits will appreciate it as well.  If they get recruited over, it's going to be 100% on them as it appears Archie will willing to stay committed to his players and allow them time to develop.

I like Anderson. As I have already posted. But that is what gets me with some kids today.  Instead of sucking it up, and dedicating themselves to get better. Which is something many kids did under Coach Knight. Granted there were a couple of exceptions.  They choose an easier route out, today. Very curious where Anderson moves on to... or back to IU.

Why would CAM force DA out if one of his stated objectives is to get old and stay old?

His asking Damezi to leave would fly in the face of everything he is trying to build the program into

Yeah, I'm not buying any forced out narrative either, especially with open scholarships.

RMK had plenty of transfers over the years

One of these days the term Creaned and forced out might actually escape IU boards. Can't believe people are dissecting this stuff. Damezi wasn't going to see the court. He's making a decision to move on and play somewhere....maybe like Depaul or Valpo or Detroit. Good for him. Should be a 5 minute discussion tops.

I can't imagine he was forced out.  Now I could see Archie sitting him down and basically telling him that there's absolutely no chance he's ever getting minutes and telling him it's his choice on what to do.  But forcing him out I can't believe.

Probably not that blunt either.  I'm guessing it was more like "These are the things we need to see improved if you want more minutes next year."  Archie seems to be a straight shooter and I'd expect him to level with each player on what they need to do to be successful and see the court.  Damezi probably came to the conclusion that the competition for minutes was stiff and is only going to get stiffer.

That is kind of my worry.  The way things are going, we may not even have a season.

Good luck to DA and his family.

Add me to the list of those surprised he had not already entered the portal. Just as we were congratulating him on his commitment to the team he decides to leave. The timing is odd but I hope he ends up in a place where he can get some playing time. Maybe he can play the 5 for uk. They seem desperate for anyone with size.

I saw there was an article on Peegs about IU's transfer options.  Surprised me because it seemed like we aren't really looking at any.  Anybody hearing about any guys we are showing interest to?

I think it would be very difficult for anyone to come into this team next year and steal minutes from any of the guys we look to have on the roster. We return our starting 5....And like 7 of top 8 scorers ...have a 5* pg coming in and 3 top 100 caliber recruits. Who is going to come in and clearly see a way to see playing time?? If it’s a big man who has multiple years maybe...but that’s about it.

IMO they still need a 3 point specialist.
