FritzIam4IU
So...I've been listening to perhaps my favorite Def Leppard album lately "High n Dry", back when Steve Clark and Pete Willis were on guitars. I believe this might have been the first song of theirs I heard on the radio back when I was a youngin.

So I love the bands between slash metal and the grunge movement. Although some grunge was pretty good. Like Alice in chains and sound garden. That's about it. mrflynn03
Oh no @FritzIam4IUgot me started on 80's hair/glam metal.
mrflynn03
This song actually has a story. My dad walked in on my mom with another dude. I was about 5 at the time. Years later in high school, I'm pretty good friends with a classmate. Turns out it was his dad and my mom. Don't know why because my friends mom was smoking hot. Anyway Not that it's 'under-rated' per se, but I think Hysteria is one of the best songs written in the 80s and I'm not a huge hair metal guy. If you think about it, the melody of the pre-chorus and chorus is so perfect, it could be reworked in so many ways. It could be a country hit, an R&B hit, etc. To my ears it has that special something that songs like 'Harvest Moon', 'When the Stars Go Blue', 'Nothing Compares to You', etc. have. *Not sure that made sense, but that happens when I think out loud about music.
tdhoosier
FYI, great interviews with Dave Grohl making the rounds on podcasts. The one on 'Smartless' is hilarious and awesome. Highly recommend.
FritzIam4IU
I don't consider Def Leppard/Van Halen etc hair metal since they originated in the 70s and were established long before that scene. I know...they did somewhat grow their hair long, but when I think of hair bands/metal I think of the bands that came in mid/late 80s like Poison, Warrant, Slaughter, Cinderella, Winger etc. although I must admit, I enjoyed some of these bands too. Hysteria was a great song, but I really like the rawer Def Leppard of High n Dry album and Pyromania even though that was a little more polished due to Mutt. My favorite Leppard song is "Wasted" from On through the Night album.

I pretty much checked out after that though.

I not only don't know any of those other songs, I have never heard of any of those other artists. I did date a stripper one time whose stage name was Dirty Honey though.

5fouls
For me there is Christmas music, and then there is Burl Ives singing Christmas music. Has a musician ever been a more perfect fit for a genre?

Hoosier51
I'm not that big of a Paul McCartney fan but this is a good song. Nothing compared to Burl Ives though. 👍 Edited December 18, 2021 by Hoosier51
