Still mind boggling that the Wolverines are this dang bad.

It really is and when you look at recruiting results it's not like they've done poorly. Right now Michigan is in the worst spot/predicament possible. No big time recruits are heading there.....and the kids they have right now aren't going to change things around.

Michigan is getting close to really only having one option.

So, who does Michigan go after to replace Harbaugh?

Does Hart have any D1 head coaching experience? I’d be shocked if they hired someone that doesn’t.

He doesn't which is why I mentioned it being a reach. Coaching has changed though so much. Not just at collegiate level but pro too. The conventional career path isn't being followed as much anymore. I mean look at Kliff Kingsbury. Sucked at Tech but has revolutionized Arizona's offense in short order.

Guys like Hart and Sheridan will get chances much earlier than most think. Especially given our success so far this year and in recent years.

Luke Fickell?

That would be interesting.  He's from Columbus,  played at OSU, and was an assistant there in multiple capacities. You would have to think he is assessing how long Ryan Day will be there, and when/if he makes the jump to the NFL.  If he took the Michigan job, have to think that closes the door on ever coaching his hometown alma matter.

If Michigan comes calling, you have to take it.  IMO, there are 2 guys they call.  Campbell and Luke.  If they don't get either one of those guys then they are reaching.

Agree on Campbell and almost everyone EXCEPT Fickell.  He's spent almost his entire life living in Columbus bleeding scarlet and gray.  Much of that time has been as a player and coach.  Just don't see it happening unless he has indications Day plans on staying put for many years.

Campbell would be a solid hire and bring local connections having coached at Toledo and Bowing Green.  He's an Ohio boy as well, but doesn't have the deep connections to OSU Fickell does.

Was going to put him in original list but no way in the world would Michigan hire an Ohio St guy.

Albert Hermstein played for UM from 1899-1902 and was head coach for OSU from 1906-1910.

Multiple guys have ties to one of the schools and coached at the other.

Most famously, Bo was an OSU assistant under Woody before becoming the UM head coach.

It’s happened, but as you say, highly unlikely
