It's apparently quite competitive, with fights among competitors quite frequent.  I can't believe the networks have not picked up the broadcast rights.

croquet | Beetchawawa

Is that a LBGTQ match going on?  Funny, I thought yarn was involved in the sport of crochet.

I'd have never guessed there's even a United States Croquet Association. I thought croquet was a game played by drunk people at family gatherings and picnics...

But, I thought badminton was a sissy game too until I watched some Danish dudes playing...serious stuff, and they could make that shuttlecock sing...

If anyone is interested in joining the PCA tour, here are the eligibility requirements.

ow does a player get on the PCA tour?

It is part of PCA’s mission to select the best, most talented, currently competing players for the PCA Tour.  It is for this reason that tour players will be selected from the top finishers of USCA titled events.

There are several ways to qualify for a place on the PCA tour.  Each year the on the first of the year the PCA will offer PCA TOUR CARDS in each game (AC, GC & 6W) to:

  1. Top five singles finishers of Regional and “Eights” events from the past 4 calendar years (per game).
  2. Top ten singles finishers of National championships from the past 3 calendar years (per game).
  3. Top three junior singles players in the US as measured by Regional or National championship flight finishes (per game).
  4. Top five female singles players in the US as measured by Regional or National championship flight finishes (per game).
  5. Qualifying Tournament: Based on attendance and at the discretion of the Tournament Director, players may qualify by playing in a qualifying tournament.
  6. A player (including wild card players) finishing in the top 50% of the field at an event will requalify for 4 years.
  7. International Players may qualify by fulfilling the current requirements for a US player or by finishing in the to 10 of their National tournament or by finishing in the top 5 of a tournament in their country that is equivalent to a US Regional ChampionshipIt is desired that each croquet discipline shall have at least 50 players qualified to be a PCA Tour card holder. If the above guidelines do not generate the desired number of tour eligible players, the PCA may offer PCA Tour eligibility to lower finishing players from Regional, “Eights”, or National Championships.
  8. Any player fulfilling one of the above criteria in the current year shall instantly be eligible to participate in the Pro Tour.
  9. Each tour qualified player will receive a Tour Card after they have participated in their first PCA Tour event.
  10. Each tour event host club will be allocated 4 Pro Flight spots for that tournament. The host club can use those spots in any way they desire.

NOTE:  All qualifiers must be current members in good standing of the United States Croquet Association or members in good standing of the national association of their home country.

Officers and employees of the PCA are not automatically offered a PCA Tour Card but must qualify the same as any other player.

As of the fall of 2019 there are 76 players who qualify in American 6-Wicket and 47 each who qualify in GC and 44 for AC.

Huh, who knew?

I know these were the rules at the aforementioned family gatherings and picnics...

1. Must blow at least a .08 on a breathalyzer

2. Must be fluent in 4 letter words

3. No whacking with the mallet above the upper thigh

4. Stakes cannot be used for "chicken" or "mumbly-peg."

5. Cannot use the phrase "I'll blast your balls!" More than twice per contest

6. Women and children cross the boundaries of the playing field at their own peril, both physically and morally.
