Proud2BAHoosier
Here in Evansville there are plenty of Hoosier fans, but we also love our Purple Aces. Tomorrow will be the 40th anniversary of a very tragic day in all of Evansville history. It was on that day that it "rained tears", when the university lost the entire team, coaches, players, media people and some fans when their plane crashed shortly after taking off from our local airport. Sadly, everyone perished on that plane RIP
5fouls
I was 12 years old. I remember my father telling me about the crash as I was getting ready for school. Being from Southeastern Indiana, I didn't know much about the Aces at the time, but, as a huge basketball fan, the news still had a profound effect on me. dbmhoosier
So sad. The only guy on the team who wasn't on the plane was killed by a drunk driver weeks later I believe. Tragic.
rico
I was 10, remember hearing about it on the news. Tragic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Indiana_Flight_216

FritzIam4IU
That was slightly before my time but I vaguely remember hearing about it when I was a little older. That is a true tragedy.
Billingsley99
I have read about and talked with several people in the area that had first hand accounts. What a tragedy.

5fouls
Clark County. So, technically not 'Eastern' in the sense of being just outside Cincinnati. But, technically, if you go due east of Clark County, you do end up in Kentucky, so we have always considered ourselves Southeast.
